Instead of writing, I made a writing tracker in my new writing bujo. The tentacles return. I'll give myself a little star for writing, edits and posting because gamifying it helps sometimes ✨️

My July Writing Stats
I have returned with another month of writing stats! July was a little better than June, but I fell short of the 15,000 word goal I set at the beginning of the month. Changes from June are in parentheses.
Total Words: 8,464 (+1,879)
Days: 21 (+8)
High: 1,464 (+394)
Low: 100 (-157)
Average: 403 (-103)
Overall, I think setting a 15,000 word goal for the month after I wrote only 6000 in June was a bit ambitious. That being said, with a little help from the weekly fic challenge, I was able to write a lot more consistently this month, which I’m very happy about.
In August, I’m going to try to maintain consistency in my writing while trying to up my word count. This time, I’ll shoot for 10,000 in the month as I think that is more realistic of a goal which will allow me to continue to ramp up without feeling pressure.
My June Writing Stats
My writing this past month didn’t turn out as productive as I would have liked because moving is still a giant time suck. Hopefully, I won’t have to move again for at least another few months. Changes from May are in parentheses.
Total Words: 6,585 (-4,417)
Days: 13 (-6)
High: 1,070 (-219)
Low: 257 (+134)
Average: 507 (-73)
Between job hunting and moving, the last three months have been a real drag in the writing department. Halfway through the year, I’m at a total of 85,000 words written, which is definitely less than I wanted when I started tracking my writing as a new years resolution.
I’m going to try to set an aggressive goal to try to write at least 15,000 words in July in order to attempt to get back on track to where I was during the first three months of the year.
Here’s hoping. 🤞
My April Writing Stats
As noted in many of my posts this past month, finding time to write has been very difficult due to a lot of real life adult things going on my life. I expected a dip in my writing but I’m still a bit sad at how little I was able to get done. In any case, keeping with my new years resolution, here are my writing stats for April. Changes from March are in parentheses.
Total Words: 7,338 (-17,680)
Days: 15 (-9)
High: 1,124 (-2505)
Low: 128 (+38)
Average: 489 (-554)
Here’s hoping real life starts to get easier in May and I’m able to find more time to write.
My March Writing Stats
One of my 2021 new years resolutions is to keep better track of my writing so here are my stats for March. Changes from February are in parentheses.
Total words: 25,018 (+6,652)
Days: 24/31 (+1)
High: 3,629 (+1,575)
Low: 90 (-99)
Average: 1,042 (+244)
Overall, I had a much better March than February where I was able to write more while basically writing for the same number of days. I think a lot of that had to do with my writers block in the middle of the month, asking for prompts, and pushing out a few one-shot fics.
Additionally, this month I’ve had a beta for my work for the first time, which has turned out really well in terms of providing feedback and encouragement, so thank you so very much @fictionalfangirlsworld!
As I’ve been on a bit of streak in the past 3 weeks updating my WIPs, my goal to continue that trend into April. I expect I’ll end up writing less overall, but we’ll see how it goes.
My February Writing Stats
One of my 2021 new years resolutions is to keep better track of my writing. In that spirit, below are my writing stats for February. The differences from January are in parenthesis.
Total words: 18,366 (+937)
Days: 23/28 (+4)
High: 2,054 (+145)
Low: 189 (-17)
Average: 799 (-119)
I started the month strong but really faltered in the last week. The positives are I wrote more even with fewer days in the month and wrote consistently every day for the first 20 days of the month. Negatives are a lot of my days were small (200-300 words).
Anyway, here is looking forward to March!
I keep meaning to post about NANO, and then life keeps getting away from me. I don’t always participate, but this year I’m using it as an excuse to get some writing done. I don’t typically struggle with word count (I overwrite in ALL the wrong places) but this year has been hectic and I’ve let my writing get away from me. It’s time to bring it back into focus. If you NANO, why? What’s your hope? Do you do it to challenge yourself? Meet new people? Be part of the community? Or because you’re like me and need to refocus? Lemme know in the comments! (And if you DO NANO, feel free to add me as a buddy on there: KahlanW) ~ #nanowrimo #nanowrimo2020 #amwriting #writingtracker #needtowrite https://www.instagram.com/p/CHWLLRmLOz1/?igshid=1b9xj2bb1ezfq
