Creative Conscience- Evaluation Of My Project.
For my project I was asked to complete a brief titled creative consciousness, I was asked to pick a topic as a strongly about and to create a piece of art That calls people to action. To begin with I looked into the stereotypes of people, the way they dress, the way I look and act ,how their perceived to be. I decided I wanted to do a animation portraying the fact that the way we dress isn't always the way we come to be. I wanted to show people that first impressions want everything for not everything yet quickly decide I wanted to show people that first impressions were not everything. however after much consideration I decided that animation wasn't my strong suit and continued on my path to illustration. After then looking through my old projects I decided I want to continue another book seeing as that is what I was good at. So Being a young female living in the 21st-century I decided to pick beauty standards in today society. To kickstart my project, I started looking into the stereotypical face shape, and what it meant to be beautiful. I explored social media views and different outlets and quickly found that the stereotypical beauty look today is; clear skin, contoured cheeks, winged eyeliner, long lashes, highlighted shine,"fleeky " filled in, eyebrows, big plump matte lip, and Rosy cheeks. So after a little bit of research I decided to start drawing and in my sketchbook I explored facial structures and features and different types of styles. I then decided to go step further and create faces using only make up, this is because I feel that in today's society people ,young people specifically are using make up more as a mask to hide themselves then to enhance their features and their beauty. So I tried to portray that using the spaces created out of make up. However I wanted to still show the personality behind the face ,so I created a story using only words on the sheet of acetate and matched them to the faces that they came from. I feel that this shows not only what is behind the mask but what that mask can then be interpreted as. Things I think went well during this project were the faces themselves that's not had a little trouble blending out the skin tones yet managed to overcome that by using different forms of make up, another thing I felt went well was time management I was able to plan out all of my work, each page ,each face, doing it to the best of my ability. However things I thought didn't go as well, were creating the actual hardback pages , this became a struggle after realising normal paper and card would be too flimsy and breakable. So after experimenting further with pages and bookmaking I found a card durable enough to be able to which hold my planned page. Although if I had more time there are a few things I would've re-done for example : I would have worked better with the accuracy of the calligraphy and improve the backgrounds more and looked into making them more fitting to the theme itself. To summarise I feel that this project went quite well, that may have been some struggles and certain things don't go as planned however the outcome I was more than happy with. I was asked to complete a piece of art that called I called people into action although I didn't technically do that I still feel as though my work may create impact on people even if it's just Pausing people into action although I didn't technically do that I still feel as though my work may create impact on someone even if it's just pausing the next time you put your make-up on or get ready and quickly changing what you plan to do because you realise you are pleasing someone else other than yourself.
