hey there little one -> BURNET
“Hi, Professor Miss Burnet!”
The eight year old is sitting on the beach next to Professor Kukui’s residence, ready for another morning of the professors informal lessons. Ree beams at her, and their Rockruff barks excitedly, tail wagging.
It’s barely seven in the morning, and the other kids won’t be here for at least another hour, but Ree is here early.
Ree always comes early.
“Do you know what professor kukui is gonna talk about today? I hope it’s raichu again. I like raichu.”

Muse rankings for muns with more than one blog and/or a multimuse blog
lightest to heaviest sleeper
1: Anabel
Anabel’s a very cautious person and trained herself to be able to wake up at the slightest disturbance in her surroundings, so she’s a very light sleeper. Incidentally, this has the side effect of making it so she doesn’t get a whole lot of restorative sleep, which might be why she’s usually in a bad mood.
2: Sidney
Sidney also turned out to be a hypervigilant person due to the circumstances of his life, finding himself into the position of a caretaker for younger children during his teenage years and then being homeless during his early adulthood. He’s been trying to get rid of bad habits, but he still tends to be a light sleeper at night and an oversleeper in the morning.
3: May
May's upbringing, growing up on the Johtoan countryside and spending a good part of her day training at her father's gym, made her very used to sleeping early and going to bed early. Because she usually gets a good amount of rest and doesn't suffer from sleep deprivation very often, if she has to wake up in the middle of the night for whatever reason it won't be very hard.
4: Neil
Neil’s not necessarily a light sleeper, but he tends to sleep very little to maximize the amount of time he can dedicate to work, going to bed late and getting up early. At the same time, when he does go to bed he falls asleep very quickly and stays asleep like a rock until it’s time to wake up.
5: Mindy
Mindy's the kind of person that has a very relaxed daily routine and considers good sleep to be an essential part of her self-care, so when she goes to sleep she covers herself in the fluffiest of blankets, shuts off all sources of light and relaxes like nobody's business. In peak cozy conditions, she's definitely not going anywhere until she's fully rested, but if someone deliberately wakes her up early without a good reason she'll order her ghosts to curse them.
6: Aaron
Aaron sleeps late, wakes up late and tends to crash like a rock, completely immobile. He rises when he wants to rise.
most to least affectionate
1: May - Very used to giving and receiving affection and not at all shy about it, gives the best hugs
2: Mindy - Can be quite affectionate but only with the people she likes, very kind with friends and family but very mean with strangers
3: Neil - Not very used to giving and receiving affection and still learning how to do it like a normal person, really nice but surprisingly socially awkward
4: Sidney - Very unused to giving and receiving affection and overall pretty hard to get to open up to but does give great hugs
5: Aaron - In general pretty distant, usually prefers to show affection by doing things for people instead of getting in their personal space
6: Anabel - She's like a mean cat, don't touch her but feel free to admire her from a reasonable distance
🥊 oooooh for hanako o////o
send a 🥊 for a song that'd most likely play if your muse were to battle satoshi.
the theme of their battle would absolutely be flyers (hidden afro version), bradio. it’s all about fun, all about the energy. there’s intensity in every single instrument, yes, but it’s the competitive adrenaline fueled kind, the kind of goading intensity, urging the other on to go bigger with it, to not hold back, to go full power. there is no goal in a battle between satoshi & hanako other than the experience of it, the joy of it, the shared thrill of battle. a taste of what could have been had hanako’s life turned out just a little bit differently. it’s a battle i can see a number of hanako’s friends & restaurant regulars coming to see, cheering on both her & satoshi ( but mostly hanako ) , applauding every one of her efforts, cheering like crazy any time hanako managed to direct a hit at satoshi’s pokémon. & satoshi would be cheering right alongside them, a chance to be proud of his mama the same way that she’s so often proud of him.

Ash had finally had it. He had had it. School was the dumbest thing in the wide world of Kanto. As he took his shoes off after entering the house, he yanked his school tie off and angrily threw it to the ground. "I hate school, Mama," Ash replied. "It's not fair. I got put in the pidgey reading group an' then when we hadda tell what we wanted to be when we grow up I said a pokemon master trainer like Daddy," he rambles. He doesn't exactly know what his father does, but in his head this makes sense. So he runs with is. "An' teacher said Ashton be more practical please and Gary was put int he pidgeot reading group," Ash whines, upset.
He pulls out some of his school work from his bulbasaur bulb backpack, thrusting it on the ground. The small child's work was marked over in red ink, frowning faces in the corner of the pages indicating he needed more help academically. "Mama, I'll be seven soon. Can't i go on my journey now?"
Sure he can hardly write his name, or read very well. He knows that his math is a little off and that he has trouble following directions. But all he wanted to do was go away from here. He just wanted to go far away from a place that seemed to laugh at him all the time.

WRITING WARM-UP DRABBLES | no longer accepting
“What did we learn? A few things that helped some of us stay here a little longer.” - John Yau, “One Hundred Poems”
“You don’t belong here, and I can’t believe Clair let you into our training program. What are you, ten? Why don’t you go back home to...wherever you’re from, and us real trainers can handle the dragon taming...okay? Unbelievable!”
As the much older Blackthorn Gym trainee stomps away in disgust with his posse in tow, a younger Iris can only look on in disbelief, her fists clenched. This is one of her first impressions of the Dragon Clan, falling within her first few days in a new region, and it leaves a terrible, lonely taste in her mouth.
---
Clair is worried about Iris, even if she’s bad at showing it. After participating in their last few training sessions together without her usual optimism and eagerness, the Unovan skipped out on yesterday’s class altogether without a word of explanation. It’s a miracle that Clair has even managed to find her today--after scouring the protected Blackthorn mountainside, she’s stumbled across Iris in a random clearing, the Dragon Village traveler stroking passing Dratini in a nearby crystal creek. As Clair approaches, she barely turns around...but the new Gym Leader doesn’t mind. Something is obviously wrong, and Clair’s never been the best at comforting people. She clears her throat, standing beside Iris and staring down into the brook.
“...Some people say that Dratini are the most fragile Pokemon of all, even though they grow into powerful dragons,” she muses, kneeling to join Iris in greeting the curious Pokemon who poke their heads above water. “If their environment isn’t exactly right, if they’re not taken care of...they die. That’s why I think Dratini poachers are the absolute scum of the earth.”
“You might be expecting me to compare you to Dratini, but I’m not. You’re not fragile, you’re resilient. And when I first met you, I knew that you were already a skilled Dragon Tamer, a skilled Pokemon Trainer. And yes, you have much to learn...” Clair trails off, pausing, “...but you are already powerful. You just need to embrace that.”
It’s Iris’s turn to look surprised--getting a compliment from Clair is a rare feat--but the Gym Leader merely smiles, reaching over to squeeze Iris’s shoulder before getting back to her feet. “You know, I can admit that my class is full of egotistical, short-sighted bullies...and I think that they could learn a lot from your enthusiasm,” she offers lightly from over her shoulder, exiting the clearing. “That being said, I expect you back in class tomorrow. Don’t be late.”
