the mechanisms were a british punk band! (they recently amicably broke up)

their work consists of rock opera concept album retellings of myths, but in space, from the pov of themselves as immortal space pirates. sometimes there are cowboys. sometimes it's train murder mystery noir. it's GREAT. fair warning though, they write 1. lots of gay couples and 2. a ton of tragedy, so there are gay couples who die in mechs albums

edit: ALSO the lead singer is jonny sims, same guy behind the magnus archives, but his character this time features less moral compass and more cackling
