Can I know who the hell does the translation of Supernatural ?
My first language is French so I often put the audio in French, but I ALWAYS put the English subtitles to know what was the original text because the people that did the French translation have done some weird shit 😭.
(In the ghost disease episode when Dean sees Lilith and she is supposed to be scary, I couldn’t take her seriously because they litteraly gave Lilith the french voice of Clover from the Totally Spies 😭😭😭 + Jessica Moore has the french voice of Harley Quinn 💀)
Anyway, here are a few exemples of some weird translation I saw:
1. (In the flashback of the Christmas episode when young Dean ask Sam what is the present he is wrapping)
English:
Young Sam: A pony.
French:
Young Sam: A whale.
2.
English:
Charlie: Hi, bitches !
French:
Charlie: Hi, my chikens!
3.
English:
Dean: I enjoy…and frisky woman
French:
Dean: I enjoy…and horny woman (I couldn’t find the exact same thing in english, but he said "les grosses gourmandes" which is really not something you say just like that 💀😭)
4.
English:
Dean: Don’t forget the pie !
French:
Dean: Don’t forget the beer ! (They completely replaced pie with beer)
5.
English:
Dean: Cass
French:
Dean: Castiel (Everytime Dean originally calls Castiel by his nickname they make him say the entire name)
6. (When Sam said that sometimes he wishes he could be innocent)
English:
Dean: I wish you could too.
French:
Dean: I wish it too. (it’s not clear that Dean wishes that Sam could be innocent, it sounds more like if he wanted himself to be innocent)
