The Wrought Material launch will be the debut show and first zine release for local legend @collage.degree; Kylie Johnson is from the far north but is now based in Auckland. After a complete mental breakdown a few years ago she was introduced to collaging by a friend who had taken her away for a weekend to help her get better. Collaging helped get her on the path to healing and helped her release some of the pain of the past. Her collages are all hand cut and glued together from old books. Through her collages Kylie hopes to make you all laugh and be reminded of the silliness of being a child when you were free to dream. Opening 6pm March 1st at Monster Valley.

James Bakker is a tradie from West Auckland. When he's not wiring up houses for rich dickheads, he enjoys playing heavy metal and searching through op shops looking for cheap old books nobody wants to cut up and create collages with. All collages are cut and glued down by hand as he has no idea about how to do so digitally.

Joshua Solomon is a tattoo artist working out of Two Hands Tattoo studio in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckand. Inspired by his return from traveling abroad, his work has started to focus increasingly on exploring his Māori and European heritage. This pursuit has resulted in the form of large scale paintings, video work, interactive performance and installations including two self-curated shows for Auckland Artweek and numerous other exhibitions. Joshua's work is a social commentary on the world that he lives in and a new New Zealand folk art informed by the beauty of everyday life. Wrought Material launches 6pm March 1st at Monster Valley.

Erin Forsyth’s work investigates the link between cultural and biological diversity. Her recent work has focused keenly on endemic flora and fauna, but an overview of her portfolio since the late 90’s, reveals an interest in counter culture and cultural development. Like many artists whose early development was influenced by graffiti popular and art forms, her work is related to the pop-surrealist movement. But she is also linked to contemporaries involved in the ‘post-graffiti Pacific’ movement - particular to artists practicing in the Pacific, whose work shifts effortlessly from wall to canvas, and reflects the natural and social environments of their residence. You can find examples of Erin’s work on posters, record covers, children’s books, clothing and in magazines.

Grant Sheridan is an Auckland based geologist that dabbles in illustration and music. Grant’s comic work mixes together druggy, psychedelic, horror, sci-fi with fantastical creatures hooning through space causing havoc to provide an alternative to mainstream superhero comics. His standalone pieces deal with themes including love, fears and dreams and love of the colour pink.

@wroughtmaterial will also be releasing the second issue of Grant's comic series, Cosmic Burnout - The insane continuation of the first issue he self-published last year.
