‘I came to Canis,’ Wryn said. ‘I can’t go to jail here for a crime I committed in another country; unless that country puts out an International Warrant. Which they haven’t. I keep up to date just in case.’

‘Where will you go if they do?’ Ell’ian asked.

‘Labuntur’s my backup,’ Wryn admitted. ‘It’s not in the Alliance, so International Warrants aren’t valid there. I already have a plot of land in my name —it’s where everyone else moved, actually— if it wasn’t for my Popa and grandchildren I’d have moved in with them already. Plus I have to look out for you,’ she ruffled Toro’s hair. ‘I owe that to your ma’, don’t I?’

just a quick writing thing introducing Delta, Wryn and Nostra, my other ocs (and mostly caretakers, Delta is the tech wiz)

“Why Centuria? Why is Centuria the only goddamn city around here. It could've been anything, but no. Centuria. Fuck me.”

Delta muttered to themselves as they walked toward the neon lights at the end of the alley. That's way too similar to the light at the end of the tunnel.

They held up their phone and scanned the buildings. The scan showed a bar a couple of meters ahead.

“The bar it is. What a hellhole.”

Arriving in front of the doors of the Astro bar, Delta shook their head, closed their eyes and exhaled sharply before pushing open the door.

Music and chatter made the place seem very alive. Almost all of the tables and bar stools were occupied by the most diverse looking people Delta had ever seen. They took a moment to adjust to the new atmosphere.

“Okay. Food? A place to stay? A place to stay, ” they repeated in their head and made their way to the counter where a friendly looking woman was making drinks.

Delta sat down on one of the free bar stools and waited for the woman to finish her task.

After a while she came over and smiled kindly. “Welcome! I haven't seen you here before. Are you new in the city? What can I get you?”

Delta gave the woman a quick smile. “Uh hi. Yeah I just arrived. I was actually looking for a place to stay. Do you know anything maybe? And...I don't really have a lot of credits so...” Delta trailed off, but the look on the woman's face showed them that she understood.

“Alright. I'm sure we're going to find something for you! Let me just ask around”.

Delta was surprised at the woman's immediate helpfulness but relieved. Spending the night in the corner of an alley wasn't on top of their bucketlist.

The woman returned after a moment, next to her was a girl with striking red hair wearing a denim vest that looked like it had gone through a lot.

“This is Wryn, ” the woman introduced the girl. “She might have some space for you.”

“Hi!” Wryn said enthusiastically. Were all the people in this city just happy all the time?

Wryn looked at the woman and back at Delta.

“Nostra here says you're new and need a place to stay? I'm pretty sure there's a free couch in our apartment. It's not much but it should do. I'll have to ask my roommate first but he's probably going to be fine with it. Sound good?”

Delta was slightly overwhelmed by Wryn's direct solution, but also glad that they wouldn't have to look elsewhere.

“Oh uh sure. That sounds great. Thank you so much!”

A change in wardrobe! It is a new day, after all. I’m glad to be drawing new clothing tho. (as of this writing, it is January and I am STILL drawing this clothing. Still, it’s nicer than the clothing in the Overture, which is what I kept the characters in ALL of the comic in the prior incarnation.)
