“i don’t think i’m in the right position to answer this at the moment,” eira smiles, something akin to amusement behind her eyes at the question. “technically, arcana has yet to make our official debut so there’s not much i can say on the matter at the moment, and even if it were to be the choice between our pre-debut release and our upcoming one i wouldn’t want to give too much away,” she sighs, grin still tugging on her face but at least she is cautious enough not to spoil anything of her groups debut. “but, if i had to give an answer now i’d definitely say i very much love our debut songs and i’m sure our fans will too so guess that could be my favourite. undoubtedly both songs as well as fly high are a bit out of my comfort zone, the whole rock genre is still quite new to me. i’m both a classical musician and a classical dancer if that is any indicator of where i’m at my best but i’ve been told i’m quite good at executing different concepts as well, so the concept of our debut is something i’m looking forward to trying out and performing on stage,” the former ballerina nods her head at the thought before adding a last statement. “and i don’t have a least favourite because, well we haven’t had an actual comeback yet, but ask me this question some other time down the track and i hope i’ll have a better answer for you then.”

there is a pause between the minute the question is uttered to when an answer forms on gwyneira's lips, but it is not the type of silence that usually signals a response newly formulating. no, rather her answer is one she has known to be an irrevocable truth to her for quite a while now and though she’s never said it aloud before there is no other thing she’d want to hear as badly as the words, “i’m proud of you.” eira speaks the phrase with no hesitation, sounding the most assured of herself that she thinks she has in a very long time but there is a sadness in her voice that she can't quite place. she follows with a dejected laugh at her questioner but it is half hearted, as if she herself was trying to trick her brain into believing she was not so cut up about those words as she really is. “those are the words i’d do anything to be given, but from whom? well…” too many people. there are far too many people whose approval and pride she’d worked so hard to gain all of her life, even now she felt she needed it more than ever. in all honesty she’s heard it before, that special phrase that is. and its not like she hasn’t ever been praised, quite the opposite if she was being honest. she can recall her father saying it to her after her very first ballet class, her first recital, her first big competition. she had heard her oldest brother say it affectionately to her whenever she got a decent grade in school and her second brother that one time she played a piano melody just as well as he had taught her. and her instructors through the years, each time she walked out of a class or a show practice it seemed the only thing they had to say to her to make up for their brutal training. at first, eira feigned as if she truly did not know from whom she’d like to hear those words now, but as easily as the phrase came to her so had a name. or a title, rather. her mother, the one person she had never heard a thing from and who had lauded over her every move since birth whether she knew it or not. eira had gone through so much of her life driven by the need for the approval of her mother, to appease a woman she only ever heard of in her father's stories of her. and what she wouldn’t give to hear her mother tell her she was proud of what she has done, the path she has chosen instead of her mothers. eira would set the world on fire if it meant hearing that from her and soshe answers her mother’s name, quietly. “i’d just like to know—if i could hear her say it i would know—if this is what my mother would have wanted for me. would she be happy to see that i’m happy?” when she asks that last question, she tilts her head to the sky as if trying to look up at the heavens, releasing a breath she didn’t know was sitting so heavily on her chest until that moment. with that spoken into exists now, all gwyneira had left to wonder, is if she was really happy at all? she does not think she’s ever felt pure, unbridled happiness and content as it should be felt. her bouts of short-lived happiness felt like nothing compared to what the fairytales laid out for their princesses. how now, would she know what it is like.
