To Fish as Formerly is a short video documenting the work of the WSÁNEĆ First Nation to "re-activate" one of it's traditional reef-net fishing sites off of North Pender Island on August 9th, 2014. This was a historic event as it was the first time that this traditional activity had been practiced on the Canadian side of the Salish Sea since the government had declared the practice illegal over a century ago. Interestingly, the Lummi Nation on the Washington side of the Salish Sea have been also hard at work reviving this important cultural and economic practice. Here's a link to a video they've produced documenting their experience.
