I am happy to let everyone know that a long time project of mine has *finally* been finished! Sort of a secret project too...Been working on this for...Perhaps almost a year now! At least, it would be at the end of summer! And boy...it has been a challenge finishing this. Gathering up all of the funds and everything.
I tried my best to keep the bathhouse as close as I could to its original appearance. My mate and I found it while we were scouting out Wildrunn for a possible home. The bathhouse is a part of a larger ancient structure that has been long since abandoned. Perhaps an early settlement of what the Torine are today, if I have to make a few guesses. Though, I’m honestly not entirely sure about the complete history behind the structures.
I wanted to start over for a long time. I wanted to move past my history with death and malicious spirits. I wanted to move past my history with a few almost evil figures.
Make no mistake, I am not a person who is completely devoid of any ill works. I have made many mistakes, and caused much harm to both family and friends in an effort to serve an evil force that wore the guise of the draken I considered a master...a father figure. A draken I still love and respect to this day, and it pains me to know that no one will ever know him as the wise soul that I do...No one would ever believe me about how he truly is.
But I digress....It has been almost a year since the events that lead to the death of a good deal of my brethren has trespassed. I hoped to have finished this place a little earlier, but it is done now. And I plan on opening it up this Monday in honor of the draken brothers and sisters I have lost.
Under the cut is a detailed description of what to expect:
First is the Tepidarium. Historically this is the first entrance before the bathing begins, and is heated to an agreeable temperature via a geothermal heating system.
Past the entrance pictured is a nice little sitting area with a view of a fountain my current apprentices and I put together. Which is also the Frigidarium of the structure. The water is cool, and helps close the pores that is opened by the Tepidarium and the Laconicum.
On either side there is access to the restrooms with showers, and storage for personal belongings. There are private steam rooms that are available for relaxation, once called Laconicum by the ancient Cassians, which can be found right outside of the restrooms. And further on, on the right side, there is an entrance to the hot sauna room.
The saunas shown here are also known as Caldarium. Hot plunge bath used to immerse the body. With a dry area inbetween each pool.
Upstairs from the Caldarium, is the restaurant and bar area!
...Which ALSO has a good view of the Sacred Pools.
These pools hold a bit of magical healing properties that I can make out, and may have some sort of connection to primal life. And the diety that I believe holds seniority within Wildrunn. Vitera I believe it is called?
Past the springs is an entrance to the park that can be walked and enjoyed by visitors.
And right next to the park is the main bath in the center of the structure. Left completely untouched out of respect. It is a large pool that can be used as a main lounging area.
That is the main structure!
The other two spots I feel the need to point out are the beauty parlor shown here:
...And the swimming pool!
I’m afraid I am not the most...articulate when it comes to describing these things, admittedly... I would rather just let the images speak for themselves, but hopefully I can give a better presentation during the actual grand opening!
The ground trembled as the winds rushed through the canopy. A crackle of tempo that sizzled in the break of the moving water brought the magic to the surface. Life and Logic working in tandem both to give breath and order to what the Direbog created. The magic that flowed through the rock, the water, and into the very ground of the swamps within Cursewood pulsed as the eclipse darkened the skies.
Finally, the moon was gone, but in its absence came a warm green glow as runes flitted around the dancers. Sound seemed muffled and everything drifted like a dream. Time stood still in this strange place where the weave and the waking world collided. The Direbog continued their beats, the drumming reaching its peak even as the muffled blanket passed through the gathering. Dancers focused on their movements, and drummers trying desperately to push back the darkness.
Then suddenly there was howling, roaring, screeching coming from each of the Direbog. They encouraged their guests and beat the drums louder still. Horns were blown from the edges of the gathering as more and more voices howled to the darkness. More and more joined until... Like a bursting bubble the sound returned. Light flooded the circle and the moon was brought back to the sky. Cheers and roars could be heard with clarity as the Direbog’s spell had been cast.
Tonight was amazing as we had each primal represented at the circle tonight. I hope everyone had fun as we danced and drummed our hearts out. To those who enjoyed the little theatrics, we thank you for watching! Hope to see more folks coming around the swamps!
