They were back to grinning at each other, embarrassingly enough: a whole five seconds of terrifying delight. John wanted to reach out and smooth his thumb over the screen, behind which Sherlock’s face was locked. It was a bit pixelled, now, the connection likely slowing down. Christ, John wanted to be there with him; or he wanted Sherlock here; it didn’t really matter. He just wanted Sherlock, location be damned.
Fuck. Fuck, he had it bad.

This is a one-shot ficlet by @wssh-watson based on a scene from my fic “The Way to a Man’s Heart” and it is absolutely precious and I love it to bits and wish I’d written it!
wssh-watson replied to your post “I’m in awe. I just finished watching The Handmaid’s Tale and I can...”
what about scenes of rape and/or sexual violence towards women? I've been dying to watch it but stopped myself from doing so because I saw a couple scenes in the trailers I couldn't bear to watch. do you ... "get used" to it or do they change in the context of the scene?
There are short answers and long answer to that question. Because it’s after 2am, you’ve caught me in a long-winded mood, lol. What you have to understand is that every single thing that happens in the context of the main story (there are multiple layers of time) happens against the will of the woman to whom it happens. The entire story is about a dystopian future wherein women have no say over their own lives. In a sense, every action that happens is a rape. It’s very, very difficult to watch. And very, very necessary - one of the nightmares I had was so vivid that I was standing there in the shower yesterday morning, trying to tell myself that everything was okay and that it was just a dream.
Here’s the thing: when I first read A Handmaid’s Tale about 18 years ago, I wasn’t scared by it. It’s far scarier now because this kind of a future is trembling on the verge of existence even as we speak. It seems we’re in one of history’s notorious backslides in terms of progress and basic human decency, and with that women’s rights will always slide.
I would suggest reading the book first. If you can’t handle anything in the book, then definite then definitely avoid the show. There are definitely scenes wherein women are used for sex against their will. They don’t protest because they can’t. At some point most of them were given a choice between that and certain death at a place never clearly shown in either the book or the show, a scary last-stop place referred to as “the Colonies”, where women who are declared to be “unpersons” are sent. The United States has become a country called Gilead, which has embraced an extreme right-wing fundamentalism. Due to pollution, the country’s fertility rates have dropped drastically and most babies that are actually conceived successfully are born deformed and die quickly. So: young, fertile women are made “handmaids”, women who exist for the sole purpose of bearing children for wealthy women, through their husbands. So yeah: it’s built right into the story and it’s horrible, but those aren’t the scenes that made me yell and sob.
The short answer is, yes, every single thing about this show is a trigger warning. Definitely read the book first. That should go without saying, anyway. :) Personally, I love dystopian books in general, and I’m political and quick to see the warning signs in our own cultures these days.
I don’t know if that helped at alll, but - read the book first and see!
The way you draw faces kills me. Or expressions. The devotion in their eyes---the love----the yearning----the softness. I could gaze at their faces all day. Jfc thank you for being part of the sherlock fandom and for sharing your gift with us for fucking serious I can't even 😭😭😭😭💖💜💙💖💜💙

Inspired by this lovely ficlet by @wssh-watson. Thanks a lot to @marybethpotter for telling me about it.

6:Age you get mistaken for
I’m at that wonderful age where it is damn near impossible to estimate my age and whenever someone does, I always end up being insulted.
10:Want any piercings?
Don’t want them; have them already.
19:A fact about your personality
I am a perfectionist and self-critical, qualities which have shaped me to become the good and professional nurse that I am today.

Hi! I see you posted a lot about Mary, her motives, her being a psychopath (fully agree with you). I'm particularly interested in her gaslighting John and abusive techniques. Is there any post you can think of that's really good in respect to this? Or any discussion that might help me out there <3?
Hahha OMG, I totally missed this in the array of messages I have!
I actually recently discussed Mary’s gaslighting in this post here, and I wrote extensive meta on her character pre-S4 here! I’ve a tonne of meta on a masterpost I’m working on of all my past Mary meta. Let me know if there’s something specific you are looking for other than those two things, which are both in the links I added!
