I feel like I've been dropped into an episode of Murder She Wrote!

On Sunday May 16, my uncle my marriage emailed me to inform me my father had died. on Mar 21st. That's.. like 6 weeks ago!!!

My father and I are largely estranged- we only communicate via post, about once a year or so.. he wasn't a nice man. Still! next of kin!?!?

additional weirdness and unnecessary Drama:

Uncle could have reached me immediately- by contacting my mother. He has her phone number. Instead he gets a 3rd party stranger to contact me via FACEBOOK- and tell me My aunt and uncle are desperately trying to reach me and how should they contact me? wtf. We did this exact thing a year ago. my dad went 'missing'- so Aunt called my mom - left me a message to call them. I called and left them my email address and a message saying I had not heard from dad since last Christmas and did not know where he was.

*sigh* Even More Weirdness:

Dad's property was sold on Mar 4th. the money is being held by a woman named Teresa. Uncle Dave provides her contact details, suggests I get a lawyer to represent my interests. Persists in asking me for my phone number and address. Denied. Again.

Since then- Teresa has revealed to me small bits of a convoluted story of a 30 year friendship, and many, many promises. Including taking his ashes 'home' to NFLD. ?1?! My dad left the Island when he was 19 - lost his accent and never looked back. He HATED 'home'. we have no living relatives there.

There is much financial fuckery going on:

Teresa says: "I had Power of Attorney and Medical Representative so that I could assist him in taking care of his financial affairs and to act as his medical advocate. In order to facilitate this, he also put me as a joint signing person on one of his bank accounts. When I sold his land, I put the money into our joint account."

january 6 is like november 5th 2.0 but minus the destiel. i mean think about it- kimye broke up, kanye apparently cheated on her with jeffree star, the us president literally attacked the capital of the united states while congress was is session, a shitton if people broke into the fucking capital building while it was being evacuated, almost nobody got arrested, a woman was killed, THEN AFTER THAT congress reconvened and officially ratified Joe Bidens election and im like 90% sure i missed some stuff

ETA: trumps twitter was suspended before they took away the nuclear launch codes and thats fucking terrifying, people are calling to enact the 25th amendment, apparently the insurgents attacked other government buildings accross the country, some republicans are trying to pass off the attack as an antifa thing, there still hasnt been any arrests, AGAIN THE PRESIDENT LITERALLY STARTED A MOB THAT COMMITED FUCKING TREASON, when asked to call them off the video trump posted essentially said that the attackers were in the right and that he loved them which is INSANE, apparently aids had to beg trump to release a video and activate the national guard (which somehow didnt actually do anything for 3-4 hours), apparently a fistfight almost broke out in the house chamber over the PA electoral votes objection
