holds his hand in public.
the rk900 learnt very early on that it was the small victories that marked progress with the detective. like the first time he called him by his name, the first time he didn’t glare the android down when offered fresh coffee in the morning, the time that he genuinely laughed at one of the rk unit’s attempts at sarcasm that hadn’t quite come off correctly, the first time richard told gavin he cared and the end result wasn’t the human doubling over with a panic attack. the first time he allowed the android into his home, allowed richard to meet his cat - let the rk unit share his bed for the night. everything. everything was a first and richard has every single moment stored away in his memory files. he wouldn’t forget because each and every tiny accomplishment between them meant… a lot to the synthetic being. meant more than he’s sure he’s ever been able to put into words or properly process.
but none of that matters now. not really. not as grey hues find the hand in his own. they’re stood alone, on a bridge in a park above a man made lake, richard had been watching the snow fall - watching it hit the water and vanish. sharing varying facts about snow and water temperatures with the detective stood beside him absently with a small smile on synthetic lips as they just… existed in the same space together for a while. there weren’t many other people around. commuters, trying to cut their walk short or other androids unaffected by the cold like their human counterparts. (as it was, richard had insisted that he wrap gavin in two scarves, a hat and one of his own jackets along with the human’s trademark faux leather)
gaze lingers at gavin’s hand, watching fingers lace with his own and takes a moment to watch his own synthetic skin bleed away on instinct - looking from their hands to gavin’s features. he sees the stoic look on his partner’s face, doesn’t dare draw attention to the hand in his own - not even as a group of rowdy teenagers walk clean past them and the grip on his hand doesn’t even flinch.
all richard does is allow his smile to widen as he shuffles closer, pulls gavin’s hand into his pocket along with his own and let their shoulders brush together gently. it’s all in the small victories. the progress that they make along the way. the steps they take without even realising them. // @erregent
Gavin: Yeah but you could've made it in! It was foolish! *looks at the computer* Gavin: It was foolush!
I love how Gavin's method for not dealing with scary shit is to put his hands out as far as they can go and scream
I went out to get some food and ended up in hope.

Gavin: Someone said elbow hair.
Michael: Do you have elbow hair?
Gavin: (Shows off his elbow)
Michael: No. Clean as a whistle.
Mica: (Also showing off her elbow) I don't either.
Michael: I don't have hair anywhere.
Gavin: (Immediately looks at Michael's crotch area)
Michael: (Looks at Gavin)
Gavin: (Looking back at the camera and smiling) It's true.
so the other day i went to my brother's house and when i walked in there was empty mike's bottles and marshmallows everywhere, him and his roomate were cuddling o the couch and his fioncee was eating cereal. i asked what happened and she said 'they just didn't give a FUCK with them marshmallows last night.'
I am not convinced that life existed before I was born. I have no evidence anywhere that proves that there was life before I was born.
