HARMONY JONES:
Along with the wound on forehead, cuts littered her arms and legs although, judging by the dried blood, most had stopped seriously bleeding some time ago. The worst of all, though, was the deep gash on her collar bone. Harmony bit back the urge to vomit at the vile smell of blood and burnt flesh and set to ripping her the bottom of her t-shirt apart. The long piece of fabric was used as some sort of make shift headband, wrapping around her head and tied in a large knot at the spot of the cut to soak up the blood. Harmony pressed the collar of her shirt against the other gash and kept her hand there, hoping the pressure would stop the bleeding.
Carefully wiping her bloody free hand on her left thigh, not daring to touch her burnt one, she began to try to pull her aching body when she heard an indistinguishable noise. Frozen in a half sitting, half crouching position, she strained her ears and listened again. But...nothing. The silence was all consuming, deafening even. She was probably just imagining things. Wishful thinking. With another small whimper, Harmony continued the excruciating task of pushing herself up. Then there it was. A yell. A deep, low yell. There was someone else out there. Someone who was alive.
In a knee jerk reaction, Harmony practically jumped up, only for a searing pain to shoot through her right leg. "Shit!" She exclaimed in the least ladylike manner possible, immediately pushing all her weight onto her left leg. Even though only her thigh was burnt, it was like her entire leg was on fire. Just as Harmony was ready to get back on the ground, crawl into a ball, and die, she heard the voice again. Groaning in frustration, she stuck her free arm out, the other still holding her shirt to the her wound to steady her balance, and began to hobble her way in the sound of the screams. "Help!" She screamed at the top of her lungs before taking another step. Well, hop. "Please!" Her voice cracked, sounding even more pathetic and desperate than she knew it already did.
