~ Adventure Anywhere ~ Still in NYC. Normally being here an extended period of time (going on 1 month now) leaves me longing for the mountains, daydreaming about exploring new trails and escaping on a whim to stand still on a frigid night in the middle of snowy forest... but this week is extra special, as my @tough_mudder family is gathering to relive the magic in the desert last month. Good morning.

I can say this now because I’m safe at home after World’s Toughest Mudder, but in the last few months I’ve been scared out of my mind that I wouldn’t make this goal. I was paralyzed with fear that I’d either get injured trying to get my triple trifecta and WOULDN’T make it to WTM or I’d get to WTM and get injured and not be able to finish. I didn’t want to say this out loud or even write it down. If you wondered why my posts were fewer and further between than ever, that had a lot to with it.

Today I am just taking it all in. Putting my gratitude out to the universe– I appreciate that I am healthy and happy. I’m grateful for the risks I’ve taken in life and love, and have learned as much from my failures as I have from any success! WTM validated every risk I’ve taken. Trust yourself. You’re stronger than you think❤️

This weekend was insane

I got a little distracted while shopping for supplies a few days ago. Reminds of a story about a girl and a lost shoe. “I promise this is my car! I can make it fit!"

This is Daniel (Wolverine) and I owe him a lot. He came to my tent around 4 in the morning on Sunday to check on me. My hip flexors had gone out a few hours before and I was recovering–and by recovering I mean unable to walk unassisted. (I’m not accustomed to running in a 5mm wetsuit and the resistance stressed my hips so much I could no longer lift my legs to do obstacles.) He knew I wanted to finish and encouraged me to get up, have coffee and start thinking about the fact that the sun would be up soon. (He was crewing for another runner, but is also a good friend) He looked very seriously at me and told me he wanted to help me make my goals. This was my turning point. I got up, my pit crew made me coffee and Daniel helped me squeeze into my terribly cold wetsuit. After that I felt my strength come back–somehow, by some miracle my legs/hips were ok!

Bless this man. He found me at almost every obstacle, took photos, encouraged me and let me know how I was doing time-wise. All this while reporting back to my crew and still supporting his runner, Ross. Amazing.

Friends like Daniel don’t come along often, but when they do, we keep ‘em around. Thank you, Daniel!! You didn’t have to, but I sure am glad you did. I cannot stress enough how much gratitude and love I have for my fellow runners💗
