Realising the other person cares about them more than they thought
I guess it makes him angry when someone touches his things.
“Even if I’m not the Baek Saeon that you knew, does it matter?” “It didn't matter to you either. Whether I was the Hong Heejoo who couldn't speak or could speak, and even when I was 406, you knew, but it didn't matter.”
WHEN THE PHONE RINGS (2024 – 2025)
ok can we talk a bit about how saeon knew hee-joo's selective mutism started the day she was supposed to go to amusement park with her siblings?
so when he confessed to her, he basically gave her the day she lost everything, back to her, by letting her enjoy the merry-go-round, eat ice cream, walk around an amusement park at her own pace, before reassuring her that he'll be there for her at the end of that journey.
he's letting her relive the day over with happier memories, to start fresh for herself/ their relationship, to no longer let that day define her.
when they meet again, he doesn't just tell her that he "loves her," because he knows that hee-joo probably won't accept that answer.
he sees her scared and understands that she fears being rejected by him, so he instead, acknowledges her feelings:
"tell me how to hate you. tell me how to not love you."
and then that kiss shooketh my heart, i'm unwell.
Ultimate wife guy, Paik (Baek? [Netflix subs aren't the best]) Saeon, unravelling at the seams, holding only one tangible thread, which is that he loves his wife.
Her being unhinged about him is like icing on a flawless cake, but sometimes you can't even hear it over how insane he is about her. Nothing in this life belongs to him other than his genuine love for her. That's how he centers himself in a world of lies and hidden identities. Are there better men out there? No. He's perfect.
I love how touchy feely they are with each other, especially in this episode. <3
The Hong sisters and their father showing up at the funeral with a gun kinda goes hard ngl, these three divas
