All the Day (#wtsdevo Worship)
“My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.” Psalm 71:8
Wake up, brush teeth, shower, eat breakfast.
Arrive at work, eat lunch, care for little ones, leave work.
Throw off shoes, fix dinner, kiss husband, go to sleep.
These are my daily routines. Simple, basic tasks that get me through most of my time. Yet while I do these things- what am I actually doing? Am I aimlessly completing each task, awaiting the next? Am I frustrated or grumpy at the long list of menial things that consume my life?
Or am I praising my God?
Am I giving each thing to Him, fully and completely?
Am I worshiping ‘all the day’ long?
Often, it is far too easy for us to fall into the trap of getting by. Of living off of the task instead of living off of praise. Today’s passage reminds me to look at each thing- even the most trivial- and praise God for the opportunity to do it.
I reflect on the fact that our goal, the reason for every task, the purpose for every thought- is to bring God praise and glory, until the very end.
Worship is more than songs, worship is more than church. Worship is acknowledging the fact that God is in everything, and thanking Him for it. Worship is using our time to give thanks and glory.
Today, I encourage you to take a deep breath before doing each task, and remember that God is good, and thank Him for His goodness. Let’s remember that each moment that we are alive and free, is a good one, and worthy of our praise to God.
