Welcome To Walt [self para 001]
Peter could feel his father's disappointment radiating into his left side like a supernova from where he sat in the passenger's seat. The Volvo cruised easily along the country road, and the sights were much too pretty for the situation. Peter glanced up into the rear-view mirror, catching little Michael squished between his suitcases, which had been forcefully packed by Richard Pan. Peter didn't want to go to this Academy all the way out in California, and he hardly felt like a delinquent, but according to his father that was where he was going, and that's what he was.
He had to admit though, lately Peter had been more loving with the bottle and pipe than he'd been in earlier days. Ever since he'd spotted that fucking brochure hidden away in his father's desk, and decided to tell Wendy that it wasn't a good idea that they hang out any more. It would be easier when he finally got sent away, if they weren't so close. And of course, his little Wendybird, nor Tinkerbell, knew that he was MIA, no longer in Manhattan.
Peter pulled himself from his thoughts just as his father parked the car in the Walt Academy parking lot. The school seemed practically empty. A grimace pulled at his lip as he looked up at the building looming ominously above and blocking out the sun. Wow. Fuck symbolism.
"Well, get your things, Peter," Richard said, in that stoic and low voice he used when he was upset with his son.
"But, dad, theres-"
"Peter," he said, cutting him off with a flick of his wrist. Peter clenched his teeth; he hated when Richard did that, like he was some sort of dog trained to obey stupid hand signals. Peter was no mutt! He climbed from the car and gathered his things from the back seat, telling Michael to stay in the car.
Richard inhaled sharply at the mention of Michael's name, his salt-and-pepper brows furrowing. The man knew his son was living in some world where time had stopped before Michael had gotten sick. Hopefully this school would help poor Peter give up his illusions. Richard did not have the heart to simply tell Peter that his brother was not in the car, he just let him carry on talking to the empty seat.
"Goodbye, Peter," Richard said calmly, a bit of sadness around the edges of his words as he climbed from the car as well to pull his son into an embrace.
The action was so shocking to the red-haired boy that he nearly dropped his suitcases. Peter stiffened in his father's arms, a sharp but soft gasp slipping from his lips.
"Uhm, yeah... bye, dad."
"I'm sorry that your mother couldn't make the trip out to see you off."
"It's fine. I know she's busy with work and stuff."
At last, after a long moment of silence, Richard pulled back from Peter and smiled sadly down at him. Peter felt suddenly, as his father's fingers pushed his red hair back from his forehead, that he were six years old again. He blinked his jade eyes up at the older man.
"You be a good boy now, Pete."
And then he was gone, leaving Peter standing in the dust billowing up from the wheels of the Volvo.

Dopey stepped of the bus that took him to this new school with a bright smile so no one could ever think anything was wrong, not like they would care. His headphones were blaring in his ears because he was trying to block out what had happened back at home, he never expected to be sent away. This is fucking stupid. His mom came home after she hit a good amount of fortune and decided his brothers and himself needed a "new start". Fuck a new start. He sighed, his thoughts were negative just because he was happy to have a family after years with his mom but now hes here.... He began thinking and more about why he was here and what to make of it. I might as well appreciate it.
From that moment he plastered the best smile he could on his face and walked through the campus towards his dorm. I hope my roommate is cool. I don't feel like dealing with some killer psychopath. Dopey looked at each door and examined the numbers. When he finally found his dorm he leaned his suitcase against the wall and threw down his bookbag to found his key. After minutes of scrummaging throught the front pocket of his suitcase he found it, standing up he opened it to see a dark-haired boy in the room already unpacking. "Hey man! I'm Dopey!"
