just remembered an Au/fic idea I cooked up awhile ago but never got to writing

Basically, Two separate universes, but during a fight for an artifact, it gets shot and the only people near the artifact were Arcee and smokescreen.

Luckily for Arcee, smokescreen noticed and pushed her out of the blast radius like. RIGHT before the artifact went boom. Everyone was HORRIFIED because oh Primus oh Primus smokescreens DEAD-

Except where the artifact was.. there was now a bot, who was much larger and had different colors than smokescreen, they were all alarmed and thought this bot was a threat-

Until they saw his face/heard his voice.

He had smokescreens face, albeit with more scars and with a distressed look on his face AND he sounded older, more tired, but was undeniably smokescreen, they later learn that this smokescreen is a prime, and the earth he came from is VERY apocalyptic due to the cons. They realize that this isn’t their future because

A: He has the forge, which still has energy left

B: He’s surprised at the fact there is no dark mount anymore.

Meanwhile in the alt universe everyone thinks smokescreen got de-aged or smth and canon smokes is SO CONFUSED and pretty terrified.

Basically Canon!smokey got universe swapped with a Prime/Apocalypse au Smokescreen and it’s everyone’s problem.

The man had moved to one of the far corners of his cell and sat there, his head hanging low. He was still blindfolded, so it was hard to tell whether he was asleep or just choosing to ignore the visitor. Xu Shu had been informed of the fate of his comrades, but he appeared to be indifferent about such news.

Wronguniverse!au Prime Smokescreen(have yet to find a name for him) is always cold.

No one knows why. Perhaps it’s because of the phase shifter being fused with him, or perhaps it is the ice in his spark that formed to carry the lives he held in his servos, only for them to slip through his digits like fine sand.

He blames himself for it all, his guilt leading him to shy away from the warmth. ‘A punishment’ he would say.

But that’s not they would say. The sparks of those he sobbed for as if he knew them for millions of years, despite the opposite being true, the sparks of those he tried so desperately to protect- to be the shield keeping them burning- keeping them from harm even as he adjusted to a role he never wanted, one he didn’t see himself fit for, but fit in like a missing puzzle piece nonetheless.

The bot he was withers as he hurtles himself into work, into fighting without rest to protect all he has left. He fights help because he believes he doesn’t deserve it.

He does, but he fears that fact. He’s scared. He’s lost.

And he doesn’t know what to do other than being the shield he believes he was sparked to be.

“Huh…” She looked to her left to see a rather good looking, if somewhat disheveled young man. As deprived of sense as she was, she tugged her jacket closer to her chest. “Possibly.”

She closed her eyes, inhaling the brisk air. It made her skin prickle, but it felt good nonetheless. “…But I hate being like this. Can’t be useful if I can’t get my body to comply…Have I met you before…?”

When he saw the woman look in his direction he looked away slowly pulled his hood up, “Indeed, it’s difficult to get much of anything done without proper rest.”

The air was chilly but thankfully it wasn’t that windy tonight. He jumped slightly when he realized that he had failed to introduce himself, “Oh, uhm... my apologies. I don’t think we’ve met before. I am Xu Shu.” Despite his fatigue he still offered her a proper bow, “I did not mean to disturb you, if you had wished to be left alone...”

“Is there any reason why you have kept us alive? I thought your forces intended to slay every last member of Wu.”

Xu Shu’s inquiry was met with a swift, but strong kick to his mid back by one of the officers that had escorted him to... wherever they were. The man had been in charge of an ill-fated ambush party, who found themselves in enemy hands before they were able to strike at the Shu forces retreating from Yiling.

He let out a pained grunt from the blow but still managed to stay on his feet. They had been walking for what felt like hours, so Xu Shu assumed something was imminent when he was suddenly told to stop. It’s not like he had much of a clue however; the man’s hands had been bound and his eyes covered as soon as the ambush party had surrendered.

The strategist nodded and offered her a weak smile.

“You would be correct in that assumption, there’s always a number of things troubling me... I hope my attitude has not become a bother to you. If so, then I apologize.”

"I should've gone to bed by now but..." She mumbles, rubbing her eyes.

“But you remain awake nonetheless.” Xu Shu mumbled before looking over at her. He couldn’t sleep either and he thought some fresh air might be able to help him.

“I’m sure we’re both awake for different reasons, but... It’s not an ideal situation for either of us regardless.”
