Xu Shu nearly jumped out of his skin from the sudden noise. “What was that?!” He muttered as he looked around.That wasn’t a person was it? Was it a dog? Or was it something far worse?

“The only person I know that makes shoes is Lord Liu Bei, so no.”

🍺what are your regrets in your life?

“Too many to count...” The tactician mumbled timidly before downing another cup of wine.

“M-My biggest regret though, is being unable to remember anything about my father. His voice, his face... They’re all lost to me.” The cup slipped out of his hand and hit the floor, but Xu Shu seemed too inebriated to notice or care.

He rolled his head back and rubbed his eyes with his other hand. “I’m a series of regrets, but I... I can only be disappointing in myself for that.”

🍺How many people have you slept with?

Xu Shu tried counting in his head and then tried counting with his fingers, but soon found himself giving up. The scholar slowly slunk to the floor from his chair and took a long pause.

“Where did I leave my abacus...”

“...I don’t want to talk about it.” He slurred weakly before resting his head on the table, feeling exhausted.

“Master Xu.” Fa Zheng shook his head. “You have to mean those words. You’re already second guessing yourself._ Are _you going to do whatever it takes? Or will you let yourself—your talents wither away here in the Southlands?” Fa Zheng waited for the answer, but he mulled over the possible outcomes in any case. Xu Shu could sound convincing and agree to start looking for what he lacked, or he could continue lying to himself and get absolutely nowhere.“I hope you do take the strength you’re looking for, and that you do not let it go. Let your allies here know that you too have a great mind that should be taken into account. Don’t ever second guess what you want again.”

This time he did think things over and fell silent, his eyes shifting around slightly as he did so. Xu Shu furrowed his brow.

“I will do whatever it takes.” The scholar stated sincerely and turned his attention back to Fa Zheng. He always thought it would be better for everyone if he was forgotten about; that being unrecoginized for his deeds was a selfless act. But deep down Xu Shu didn't want his name to be lost to time.

"I feel as if that strength has been within my grasp this entire time." Now if only he had the gall to finally take it. If his allies did not wish to use his newfound potiential, he would go elsewhere.

“You would be correct in that assumption, there’s always a number of things troubling me... I hope my attitude has not become a bother to you. If so, then I apologize.”

❌ What is the biggest mistake they make in their relationships?

Xu Shu will feel like he isn’t good enough for his partner, or that he needs to be a better person for their sake.

He hesitates on how he should handle either however and just ends up developing crippling anxiety whenever they’re alone.
