Wubbo 18th of May 2014, 11:08 am A day I’ll never forget. Wubbo Ockels passed away… Wubbo, one of the initiators of the Nuon Solar Team who I’ve been working with, as the team photographer, since 2000. The solar challenges we’ve joined together including Adiante (a solar tour through Europe) were together more than 28000 km’s Never a dull moment! Although he was the oldest team member…he certainly had the youngest spirit!!! During the solar races, everyday we had to get up at 5:15 am to catch the first sun. Wubbo was one of the first to get up. Dancing on the beats of Uprising (Muse) he walked towards the truck to get his morning wash. Everyday he inspired you with his positive energy. An energy you can live on forever ;:^) I still can feel his presence… because during all those km’s we’ve raced together he kept on inspiring me and all the other team members to push yourself to the limit. He did push himself to the limit…the limit of his body… But this time he did not beat the cancer. Although he kept on fighting it till the end. The end was Sunday 18th of May 11:08 am 2014 Wubbo Ockels, the first Dutch astronaut has left spaceship Earth… Safe journey Wubbo!
