Absolutely crazy past few days! I’ve never seen flooding like this here in my life!!
I think I’ve mentioned a few times I’m from wv on here so just announcing that we are safe from the flooding rn! We live right uphill from one of the worst spots affected rn tho and I am out of work until the flood waters go down :’)
Expect no activity for the next bit. I had been meaning to take some time to focus on some job-related nonsense, and deal with some faith issues I've been dealing with. Then two days ago, my area had one of its biggest floods in three decades so now is as good of a time as ever to limit my distractions. Lord willing I'll be back before you know it.
For my Christian folk out there, keep East Kentucky, Southern West Virginia and Western Virginia in prayers. As of now there's no big organization organizing donations, but lots of churches and local businesses are donating time, supplies, and food to those who are dealing with loss. If you're close and can help out, I know it would be appreciated.
I've not seen anything like it in my lifetime with homes and cars under water, hospitals evacuated and entire towns shut down. It's been surreal to say the least. Its reminiscent of early COVID times where just walking outside gave you a odd feeling in the pit of your stomach.
Myself and my family are blessed - we just lost power for a few hours. My grandmother was evacuated to a local highschool at the height of the flood but otherwise all my loved ones are ok. I know some folks who lost their home and I just can't imagine what they're dealing with. The last ten years have really been something else.
Be thinking of everyone here.
Please keep West Virginia in your thoughts guys. We've had some really bad flooding and people are without homes. So far I think the death toll is 15.
