El Scorcho on WV Public Radio Sat Oct 8
Hey friends! El Scorcho will play on WV Public Radio's show "A Change of Tune" this Saturday, Oct 8! Listen in from 10-11 PM on your local WVPB station. If you're not in WV, you can listen online from anywhere in the world.
Host Joni Deutch does an awesome show of eclectic music each week. You can find her previous playlists on WVPB's website or on Spotify.
Let me know if you'll be listening and where you'll be listening from! Please spread the word!
Kim Bryant, a director of operations in Digital Media here at HQ, submits this member station mug shot and says:
As a native of the Mountain State, I love that WVPB uses Fiestaware for its mug premiums (yes, I'm a member!) Because Fiesta is produced by the Homer Laughlin China Company of Newell, WV, and always has been.
And I got this colorful contribution via Twitter this week:

NPR’s Linda Wertheimer is a huge fan of Fiesta, too, and did a gorgeous profile of the company a couple of years ago. You can read and listen here. There are also photos and gifs from inside the factory that you have to see! Here’s a snippet:
Inside the old buildings, with fog pouring off the Ohio River and drifting into the windows, the ware comes out of the fire, magically transformed — creamy orange, intense red, vivid turquoise. Bright pottery is stacked in bins and crates and piled all over the place.
"I remember the first time I actually went to the facility, and I'm looking around and I'm thinking, 'Boy, am I back in the 1940s or what?' ... " says Bruce Smith, the head of the union representing the pottery workers.
