We’ve got an employee mug call-out going on Twitter this morning. I’ll be posting the responses here. Thanks to all of our readers and listeners for supporting the work we love!

The 2015 NPR SAG-AFTRA contract that was extended temporarily expires tomorrow, Friday, at midnight. We need your help! Please tweet TODAY to show your support for NPR’s 400 SAG-AFTRA members using #WeMakeNPR. SAG-AFTRA has tried to negotiate an NPR agreement that preserves equal pay for equal work for new employees, and existing benefits and dispute resolution procedures for all. Largely due to the work of SAG-AFTRA members, NPR has achieved record audiences and double digit growth across all platforms. NPR has a budget surplus, but NPR executives want to significantly lower salary minimums for new hires, the ability to freely contract out SAG-AFTRA work, and restrictions on SAG-AFTRA’s right to fully represent its members. This flies in the face of shared ideals that include NPR’s mission and the commitment to a fair workplace. Without the employees who serve as its backbone, NPR would not have the high-quality journalism or cultural programming that have made it a preferred medium for tens of millions of listeners and readers. Many SAG-AFTRA journalists have dedicated their lives to the craft. They deserve a fair workplace with fair compensation. For 41 years, SAG-AFTRA (and its predecessor union) have made NPR a fair and productive workplace for informed, accurate and innovative journalists. The pay and benefits negotiated by SAG-AFTRA attract and keep the journalists who literally have made NPR. Learn more by going to visit www.wemakenpr.org
