Midwest Academy manager found guilty - 9 years in prison
The manager of Midwest Academy near Keokuk, Iowa has been sentenced to 9 years in prison. The entire cases showed not only Iowa but all other states that there are loopholes in their legislation allowing people to run what basically was a private prison. A lot of lives have been destroyed not only at Midwest Academy but also other facilities operating in the manner. The sad fact is that Midwest Academy was allowed to operate for so many years without the politicians intervening because they cared more about local jobs instead of the safety of the teenagers at the facility. This must stop. None improved as direct result of the Academy operating. A lot of parents got time to themselves instead of parenting but the costs have been massive. Obituaries show deaths among the teenagers who was forced to live there. PTSD is widespread among former students. The price for attending Midwest Academy was simply too high.
