Former Women's Champion Michelle McCool Reacts To Being Snubbed By The WWE.
The WWE's Women's Division has gone through a massive change over the past couple of years, and it is very much appreciated, as the company now promotes women who can actually wrestle.
Prior to this change, the WWE mainly hired women who looked a certain way, and in-ring ability was considered secondary. There were, however, still a few bright spots in that terrible Divas era. Michelle McCool fits in that category, as she could actually pull off some decent moves, and she ultimately went on to become a 2-time Women's Champion and a 2-time Divas Champion.
March is Women's History Month, and to mark the occasion, the WWE released a list of the 45 greatest women to ever win a title on RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. For some reason, the company left Michelle off of the list.
McCool noticed this and was not pleased by it, which is why she took to Twitter to express herself by saying this:
"Real talk-when you’ve put up [with] more in [the] past than anyone would believe (simply b/c I’m [The Undertaker's] wife) [I've] rarely been mentioned for making ANY contribution to the 'women’s revolution'-but WOW-not even top 45!"
Following her tweet, WWE expanded the list to 50 and added Michelle's name to it. This change did not sit well with her husband who sent out a tweet of his own, and it said this: "Too little too late...unbelievable!!!"
Taker may have been upset, but so was Michelle, as she believes that she was only placed on the new list because of her husband.
This is what she said to WWE's message:
"Wow! So honored! I speak truth…NEVER asked him for anything-worked my butt off! But this, definitely got this [because] of who my husband is!"
On this day: but 10 years ago Michelle McCool w/Layla El defeated Mickie James to win the WWE Women’s title: Vickie Guerrero was the self-appointed guest referee. Mickie went for a pin early on but Layla jumped onto the apron and Vickie was distracted. Mickie knocked Michelle out of the ring and hit her hurricarana on her! Vickie began screaming at Mickie to get back in the ring. Layla distracted Mickie while she was getting back in the ring giving Michelle the chance to attack. They showed Beth Phoenix watching on the monitor in the back. Mickie started to take control again after hitting another hurricarana in the ring. Michelle hit a belly to belly suplex and went for the pin and Vickie somehow managed to fall out of the ring. Layla started rubbing Vickie’s buttocks (never thought seeing Layla touching another girls butt would be horribly disgusting) and Mickie went for the pin but Vickie was too busy trying to get in the ring to count, Vickie finally got in the ring and smacked Mickie across the face! Michelle gave Mickie a big boot moments later for the 3 to become new women’s champion! Vickie handed the belt to Michelle and celebrated along side the new champion and Layla El.
