Mortician Taker + Autism
I’ve mentioned the Mortician Undertaker being autistic once, and I did it as a joke, but sometimes I look at his character and just wonder, you know? It’s all in this video here. I get that he’s a zombie, but he isn’t being completely still and mindless looking. I understand that Calaway was still in the early stages of developing this character, as this was in 1991, so I believe this is one of those “my character is doing nothing, but the audience is paying attention, so I have to do something small that can still count as interesting” moments. But fiddling with the his hands? Adjusting his clothes slightly? Breathing heavily like he’s about to lose it, but somewhat appearing stoic or deathly calm? Avoiding eye contact?
Has anyone noticed how he’s always glaring into the camera when walking to the arena? He hates being filmed, but is wrestling because he’s forced to. You might spot him looking into the camera in this video.
