the workweek is upon us
it's dangerous to go alone
here take this
may he offer you some whimsy in these trying times
Eugh, major downside of being on nights is that I absolutely do not have any creative energy left. Even during my waking hours at home, I have ended up just vegging on the couch with my cat. Being on a nocturnal schedule just zombifies me pretty thoroughly on that front.
So, i think ive done a whine or two on here before about how this year has been at work? Four rounds of layoffs? Absolutely shredding my sleep schedule and ability to focus? Real fun time to be a contractor for the american government, lads. But that's behind us now, ceo says that if there are any more layoffs, they probably wouldn't be until the new year. We're good, right?
We got news that we're probably going to start furloughs in november, which for us is just involuntary leave without pay, no back pay afterwards. In what I'm sure is a complete coincidence, I'm doing really darn good at this very moment on my second almost-all-nighter in a row.
Which is to say, one, i have inbox questions I'm behind on, I haven't forgotten them, i just need to gather information and words and that's a Lot right now. And two, I'm probably going to be doing some flailing soon about creative activities where i might be able to Complete Thing in relatively short order to try to reset my brain.
This has been a frustratingly consistent year of 'as soon as I get a little breathing room i can practice self care with hobbies,' and i don't know how on earth I'm still awake right now. I'm at the point where would honestly be almost nice if work pulled the trigger and put me out of my misery for a week or two, if i could be sure that would be it
In summary,
desperate for attention but i don't think anyone likes me
THE CHAINED CHARLATAN. there are monsters living on every other street. [vere's] the only one that needs a muzzle before being taken out for a walk. the senobium is a spire that is well known for many things : in being a holy ground, a beacon of humanity, a fountain of knowledge for clerics and mages and for those in search of deeper answers. what it is not commonly known to be, however ... is a prison.
in its lengthy existance, it's not entirely unheard of that the senobium takes in prisoners. from crooked mages who vainly practice taboo arts, to everyday civilians that violate eridian law at alarming degrees, it is usual practice for transgressioners to be locked up and the key thrown away. those imprisoned by the senobium are often never heard from again — no one is ever brave enough to question it, the city keeps their eyes averted.
when it comes to one such inmate, though, there seems to be an exception to this rule.
rhythmic clinking echoing through the streets can only mean one thing for certain : vere is near — blood thirsty and ever on the hunt ... everyone knows to turn the other way. often accompanied by a highly skilled cleric or seen resting leisurely and seemingly alone atop a stoop in the amaryllis district, vere is one monster known to don many unique accessories that are far from decorative in its nature.
