I am going to be crying every single God damn second of this women’s tournament.
I have been watching wrestling for sixteen years now and even though I had Trish and Lita growing up, there was never something like this. And for all that Trish and Lita (and Jaqueline, and Molly Holly, and Jazz etc.) accomplished, there were still bra and panties matches; still paddle on a pole matches that I detested seeing. Not to take away anything from the women who performed in those matches - I just knew they were capable of so much more, and should have been allowed to do so much more.
I cannot express in words how important this tournament is to female fans, young and old, old and new. I can only imagine what this means to them if, as a fan of sixteen years, this tournament means so much to me.
I am so excited to see the matches these women put on for us. I am so excited for women’s wrestling.
