Teddybear was sitting on the couch watching TV. Mind blank with the show that was on.

When he started hearing clanking of metal on his door. And then the doorbell ringing. Teddy got up and went to the door.

On the doormat was someone in full medieval gear. The Visor lifted and he could just see BabyBears’ eyes and freckled brow.

"I lost my key." Teddy was a little shocked and just blinked as she clanged passed him into the apartment. He just vaguely remembered her saying something about volunteering at a Ren Fair.

"How did you loose your Key?" Babybear was taking her helmet off and she pulled her hair out of the ponytail it was in. She looked at him embarrassed.

"It’s stuck in my pants Teddy. the ribbon I had it tied on untied itself. And it slipped down there when I had to beat up some jerks who were harassing some girls at the fair."

wake up

Teddy woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of the teenager staying with him now crying out in her sleep. Her cat was in the doorway looking at him like he’d better come fix this right now!

Teddy sprang up from the couch and was in the room in a second.

She was screaming about her Dad. Something about someone not hurting her Dad.

Obviously she was having a nightmare and he tried to wake her and calm her down.

But later he would find that it wasn’t just a nightmare. It was a memory. Trying to break it’s way through the trauma that had suppressed it.

There was a knock on Teddy’s door late one night.

He’d been up reading to try and calm himself down. He was sure that everyone in the company was doing the same. Waiting for some word.

When he opened the door, one glance was all he needed to know what the news was going to be.

The now teenage redhead, whose grandfather owned the Wrestling Federation they worked for, and whose Father had been taking her to work with him since her mother had died, was standing there.

Her cat was laying on her shoulders, and she had a suitcase in one hand. And the look on her face broke his heart.

He let her in without a word. She stood in the middle of his livingroom looking like a lost 5 year old again. He went over and she threw her arms around him. A sob shaking her.

"PapaBear is dead Teddybear!"

Teddy was sound asleep. Dreaming of nice things, when all of a sudden he felt something gently tugging on his nightshirt sleeve.

"Teddy…. Teddy Bear~!" he woke up with a groan, rolling over to look at who was there. He blinked his eyes at the little 6 year old, holding onto her kitten. Her face was a mask of fear.

"Gwen? What’s wrong?"

"Can I climb in with you Teddy? Theresh shomething making shtrange noishes outside my window. I think it’sh a monshter." Teddy was too sleepy to argue and scooted over to give her room. "Thank you Teddy Bear." the little frecklefaced girl sighed and crawled under the covers.

✢ (maybe babybears dad this time?)

The doorbell of the apartment rang. Thunder rolled over head and lightning split the skies before anyone living in the place reached the door. Frank Johanson, PapaBear to his Fans, opened it and raised a brow at the person standing on the doormat.

Teddy, the Heel Announcer down at the Grizzly Wrestling Federation was standing there drenched from head to foot from the rain looking pitiful.

"Hey… it looks like rain." he muttered, trying to mop up water from his face with an already soaked sleeve.

"Whoshe at the door PapaBear?" Little Baby Bear Gwen came walking into the entryway rubbing at her eye, Ivan the Terrible now an adolescent cat following behind.

"TeddyBear? What are you doing on our doorshtep? Oh my goodnesh you’re shoaking wet!" in a second she’d moved passed her father who just moved out of the way and latched onto Teddy’s hand. Pulling him into the warm house.

[text] From BabyBear: TEDDY BEAR WHERE ARE YOU I’M COMING!

[text] From BabyBear: WHAT HAPPENED? DO I NEED TO KICK SOMEONE’S BUTT?!

"I think I screwed up."

"I think I screwed up." BabyBear looked up at her favorite babysitter. And for an 8 year old she could tell it wasn’t to the paper sitting blank before him that he was talking about.

It took her about a second before she was over there and giving the green haired man a hug.

SPIT IT OUT!

"DON’T RUN WITH SHHCISHORS!" BabyBear was practically shrieking when she saw Teddy racing somewhere with a pair of fine sewing scissors in his hand. What was he thinking?!

There wasn’t a sewwing emergency on earth that was ergent enough to ignore the number one rule of handling scissors.
