Title: What We Fear In The Shadows
Genre: mystery/suspense; thriller; (dark) romance; paranormal/supernatural
Category: Adult
POV: third person omniscient; switches between 3-4 main characters.
Themes: deep dark secrets, the mystery of life and death, grey morality and complicated characters (+ motivations), the appeal and attraction of the forbidden.
Summary:
What We Fear In The Shadows is a murder-mystery with some added supernatural elements, grey morality and dark romance stacked in a trenchcoat pretending to have a plot. With a backdrop of a gruesome series of murders happening around London, Elise Huntington-Ward has just accepted a prestigious position as a psychiatrist at Edgewater Sanatorium, a private mental health clinic. With just a bit too much tragedy in her own past, it seems like some cruel twist of fate when she gets assigned the case of Dr. Russel Crawford, a patient at Edgewater who believes himself to be immortal. In an attempt to do her job and help the tormented doctor, Elise gets dragged into a game of cat-and-mouse she has no business in meddling with, and will soon discover that even the deepest darkest delusions may have some truth to them.
So, I started another WIP for Camp NaNo. *All my other WIPs give me a nasty sideways glance* But that’s okay! I felt inspired for this and wanted to write something different than my main WIP Anthology of Echoes for a change. So here we are. Another murder-mystery but this time in modern-day London with a bunch of sciency supernatural stuff and a cast that’s mostly in the medical profession. Have I been watching too much House and Criminal Minds as of late? Yes. Do I care? No.
