'Poppy Fields' is now on tour around UK Cathedrals, featuring film recordings by Oscar winning actor Eddie Redmayne Come along first to see at Guildford Cathedral 5/6th October 2018. A stunning projection of poppies will fill the Cathedral for two nights only, as part of a unique light and sound installation to commemorate the World War One Centenary. Created by Peter Walker, Artistic Director at Lichfield Cathedral and Luxmuralis, the installation will feature projections inside Guildford Cathedral, including names of soldiers who have served in the armed forces and falling rose petals which will be projected at the east end. A beautiful sound artwork composed by David Harper, accompanies the installation and includes four readings of WWI poems by Oscar Winning actor, Eddie Redmayne (recorded in 2016).(x)(x)(x)

The recording was almost two years ago for the Lichfield Cathedral's event commemorating the Somme in August 2016.

On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October 2018 the St. Albans Cathedral will open after dark to anyone wishing to contemplate and reflect on the history of World War One. Entry will be free and will provide people with an opportunity to remember those who have served, both in the First World War and any other conflict. 

Created by Peter Walker, Artistic Director at Lichfield Cathedral, the installation will feature projections specially tailored to St Albans Cathedral, including names of local soldiers who have served in the armed forces and falling rose petals which will be projected over the Shrine of Alban, Britain’s First Saint. A beautiful sound artwork composed by David Harper, accompanies the installation and includes four readings of World War One poems by Oscar Winning actor, Eddie Redmayne.
