W.W.J.R. (When Will Jesus Return?) is a faith-based comedy that takes an unexpectedly modern approach to a timeless message by asking a simple question: if Jesus returned today, would He need a social media strategy?

The premise is delightfully offbeat. Lazarus "Laz" Young (J. Tate Silver), an unemployed web designer nursing a broken heart and a bruised ego, crosses paths with Jesus (stand-up comedian Zoltan Kaszas), who has returned to Earth with a gentle sense of humor and a desire to remind people that faith begins with everyday acts of kindness. Together, they create Faith Book Friends.com, hoping to reconnect a spiritually disconnected community while helping a struggling local church find new life.

The film's greatest strength is its warmth. Rather than leaning into heavy-handed preaching or fire-and-brimstone theology, writer-director Stevie Fernandez opts for an easygoing buddy comedy built around encouragement, forgiveness, and second chances. Kaszas proves to be an inspired choice for Jesus, portraying Him with an approachable smile, quick wit, and just enough playful charm to make the concept work. His chemistry with Silver gives the film an affable rhythm, even when the story wanders.

And yes, it does wander.

At just over two hours, W.W.J.R. asks a fair amount of patience from its audience. Several scenes linger well past the point they've made their joke or emotional beat, particularly in the second half. Tightening the pacing by twenty minutes would have given the comedy sharper momentum without sacrificing its heart.

The production is clearly modest, and performances vary in polish. Some cast members deliver natural, engaging work, while others occasionally resemble enthusiastic church volunteers who wandered onto the set. Fortunately, sincerity carries the day. The film never feels cynical or manufactured, and that authenticity becomes one of its most appealing qualities.

One especially memorable highlight comes from sisters Camille and Haley, whose musical performances add genuine sweetness and become welcome emotional interludes.

I'd say the film's most refreshing idea is its embrace of technology as a tool for connection rather than division. While the fictional social platform occasionally simplifies the realities of modern digital life, its central message remains appealing: social media works best when it builds community instead of chasing clicks.

No, W.W.J.R. isn't trying to reinvent faith-based filmmaking. Instead, it offers something increasingly rare: a pleasant, optimistic comedy that believes kindness still matters.
