Why?

People wonder why I do photography, why I put myself through the hard work, dedication and stress of delivering a service at people’s events..

It’s simple really - The satisfaction of being able to create memories that will last a lifetime and for the feeling of being accepted into someone’s biggest of days, that they trust me to evoke emotion into pictures.

For me, it’s not always about the money. Yes of course it’s a business and, let’s face it, photography is investment heavy. But it’s more than that, it’s getting that reaction back off the people we are delivering the service to. I’ve had women (and men) cry when they have seen the pictures for the first time.. why? Is it because they are amazing pictures? Not always. I mean they have to be good and in the style of the clients but it’s because they bring back memories.. feelings of that day or time in their lives.

That’s why I do what I do… Passion

Olivia’s Christening was a blessing and a honor to be involved in. Everyone that was there made the day truly special but it was my job to capture the various personalities and special moments so that the memories would last a life time. 

I must say before I start that both Rebbecca and Mick (Olivia’s mum & dad respectively) were fantastic throughout the day and treated me as a close friend and trusted my guidance when needed.

The morning started at St Teresas Church in Irlam for the ceremony, having only ever been to 3 christenings in my life, it was a surreal experience but it was lovely. The priest was fantastic with me - sometimes vicars/priests don’t allow photographers to do much, usually involving being told to stand in one place or not use the flash etc - but I was given a free roam so long as I didn’t interrupt. 

The ceremony was good but I was conscious about getting in the way too much so I kind of stayed to the side and used my telephoto lens which meant I didn’t have to get close. The challenging part of the ceremony was the fact that Olivia really didn’t want to be there - which was difficult as she was the sole purpose for the event - oh to be a child and not know what’s happening haha.

After the ceremony, everyone headed over to Corky’s Bar for the after party and the atmosphere was amazing.

Olivia became more relaxed which helped massively and she really began to enjoy herself - it was a lovely sight to see her dancing around and smiling. So I got out my 50mm 1.8 and went snapping candid shots around the party.

We decided to do the formals outside on a lovely bit of decking which went down a storm. 

Overall it was a fun, challenging and exciting day that I feel blessed to be part of - so thank you to the families and guests involved and I hope all are happy with the outcome of the shots.
