Today’s project is a 2-1/4lb Plumb Boy’s axe in excellent condition. I carved the handle from my Locust stash, 27-1/2in finished length. The first shot is the handle right after the final fitting. Once it’s hung I finish the swell and this one got a little red stain just because it’s a Plumb.

Haven’t posted anything new for you guys in awhile now. Well, here are a couple double bits I finished up recently. A phantom beveled True Temper Kelly Perfect, and a no-name with remnants of red paint. The “before” photo shows the no-name on a pretty nice replacement handle that I opted to clean up and rehang. The TT got a heavily reworked hardware store House handle. Also pictured is a nice Plumb boys axe and its original red handle. That one is gonna get a home made handle.

It seems often the Gransfors axes (and others like them) are considered a wholly different animal than tomahawks but I think there are some important similarities worth looking at, particularly in regard to the Wildlife Hatchet and the general bit geometry of GB’s products.
