Today’s project is a 2-1/4lb Plumb Boy’s axe in excellent condition. I carved the handle from my Locust stash, 27-1/2in finished length. The first shot is the handle right after the final fitting. Once it’s hung I finish the swell and this one got a little red stain just because it’s a Plumb.

Spent the day with my fellow Vermonter @shipwrightskills making a ash axe handle. We steam bend the handle so hopefully it will be super strong. Rehanging 1 axe and handing a new head on a 20” saddle axe handle. I went to buy the 5/4 American hickory lumber today and these hickory handles were standing by the door. I took it as a sign. I will custom fit them, one will get blackened and one will stay natural. Both will get a tung oil coating with @skinboats good stuff - the best tung oil I have ever used.
