Re: summer slasher pope (as someone who lived/worked/and went to camp in the northeast US):

For the VIBE: The little towns that host these camps are soooo sleepy and familiar. They’re americana to the CORE. Red pickups and general stores and gingham everywhere. Lots of maple syrup and when it gets dark, tons of lightning bugs/fireflies (fireflies for northeast folk, lightning bugs in the south). Hoodies and shorts weather all summer.

Pope would be a year-rounder living in this tiny town w Smurf etc and his family, maybe running a general store as a front across the lake from the camp. Reader is some admin team member at the camp getting ready for arrival when strange things start happening (stuff going missing??) and has to keep frequenting the general store across the lake either via swimming across or trail running (chase through the woods scene??) and keeps bumping into any of the Cody-family but not pope until Smurf (who maybe owns this camp??) sends him to “work” there in order to keep the going ons quiet when the kids arrive.
