Secret Hideaway //Forest Friends\\
They were in the midst of winter and just as Mel had promised, her poultice was working. She felt strong, she felt alive. It didn’t matter that sometimes it felt like her insides were rotting away. Like her own despair was eating away at her and threatening to shut down her every organ. It was a feeling that hadn’t gone away and she was finding it hard to ignore. That didn’t mean she didn’t try.
Days like this were nice. The wind didn’t blow very hard and the cold didn’t gnaw at her skin. The sky was clear for once and the sun shone brightly as she walked through the forest. Her boots, yes boots, crunched on the dead leaves filling the forest with that sound only.
It was the only sound for awhile before she heard something else. There was more crunching and then... muttering? The voice was familiar and worry instantly took over and she moved forward quickly. “Th-Theo? Theodore?” She called out his name loudly, quickly, as she near ran through the forest. If he was hurt.... She had to get to him.
And when she did her heart nearly broke. “Theo... Theo, what are you looking for?”
