Hesitation, even with the current training he possessed he'd been unable to complete his mission and the assigned target had fled from him and the redhead had been made.
So here he was slinking back into the white washed walls of the Castle in the World that Never Was a failure and he isn't sure if that is something he should be proud of or dreading. Some part of him is glad he'd failed because there is the pervading sense of wrongness at taking a life in the manner his own had been stripped from him.
Life or Heart
There really wasn't a difference as the hellish purgatory they lived in was just a step above hell of that he's got no doubt.
Echoes of emotion patched together from memory and he can still distinctly say he almost feels that which should be unattainable.
At least Xemnas had told them this.
He clenched his fists slightly feeling the fluttering warmth in his palms. He looks to the Alter of Naught, should he enter and inform the so called Superior of his failing?
Better to get it over now than to wait it out. After all they were expecting him back and if he shirked his duty and retreated to Is... Saix's room they might take his failings out on the other and he couldn't have that. Better to take his tongue lashing now and try again later.
Steeling his nerves before they failed him as he had done earlier that night he approached the Alter.
" Xemnas?"

GDI now I have the mental image of Ansem petting a very distressed Flan with a bite taken out of it, while giving Demyx a deathglare.
*cackles* I’m not sorry. That’s a hilarious image. Also I knew I’d catch at least one Ansem with the threat of eating his babies.

He is, and he doesn't care. Both were developed in desert environments in part as protection from the sun. Ganon has every right to wear eyeliner and mascara. ...Hylians wearing it is probably cultural appropriation or something.
THAT IS ACTUALLY WHY I HEADCANON HIM WEARING EYELINER THOUGH, gerudian eyeliner is made with a special mint like plant that keeps the area around the eyes cool in the desert heat.
Ansem and Xemnas. Chose between your fuckup sons!

“Ansem, but don’t let it go to your head. You’re on thin ice.”
Faint sunlight from above, and chilly stones beneath her coaxed Amanda’s eyes open again. Sunlight... that wasn’t right, wasn’t she inside? “Ugh…” she quietly groaned out, lifting a hand to her head and pushing herself up to sit. Dark bricks lined against her back, and neat cobblestone paved the ground.
This was definitely not the shop. What happened? She... was last with Cid, he’d told her to hide from the monsters... Is he okay? Did he get blasted here too? she wondered, absently reaching for her necklace.
My Wayfinder-! Her hand scrabbled halfway across the width of her shirt before it finally hit her.. The little star charm she’d built of metal and enchanted glass was gone. But how? It was always around her neck... It must’ve fallen off in the chaos, she supposed.
“Well, sitting here won’t help me find it,” Amanda sighed aloud to herself as she pushed against the brick wall to stand up.
She shook the dust from her long skirt, and began to slowly walk. Her skin felt a little singed as she moved, looking around for a metallic glimmer. She’d spent so many hours making that Wayfinder charm, and several more for her friends and her guardian. It was precious to her, and yet, she didn’t feel her stomach sinking with worry at realizing it was missing...
“Aha!” She quickly found the charm, it’s little purple star and connecting chain sitting beside a small puddle of rainwater. “There you are, safe and sound!” Amanda smiled then as she scooped up the necklace and patted it with a hand, but that smile felt oddly... plastic. Fake. As though she was trying to be polite with someone she secretly disliked. That smile immediately disappeared upon taking in her reflection however, and her jaw dropped.
Bright, almost glowing amber eyes stared back at her, and her formerly black hair looked white...? Slowly, Amanda lifted a hand and poked her cheek, watching the girl in the reflection do the same... it was still her. But how? She seriously shouldn't be this calm... why on earth was she so calm? No increase in breathing or heartbeat, no sense of panic... nothing!
This was the second time she’s woken up in some strange place! “I guess I’ll just have to ask a local where I am now... find some help,” Amanda relented with a sigh, and started making her way out of the alleyway with a hand shielding her eyes from the setting sunlight.

The beach was quiet at night, which is exactly what he wanted. The stars and the moon were visible tonight, shimmering above him. It was beautiful sight really. Vanitas was sprawled out on the sand, his fingers digging into the particulars beneath him. It’s not the beach he’s wanted to see, but it’ll do for now.
A soft sigh escaped from his lips and he shut his eyes. Even anything, he could fall asleep here. That is until he senses a familiar presence. Vanitas opens his eyes and he looks up. His mind plays tricks on him at first, seeing a young man with brown hair and dark blue eyes, Terra. However, he blinks and it turns out to be Xemnas instead.
“I’m not going back.”

[ ‘If it is the answers you seek, to find Terra ... Perhaps it lies within the darkness of the Thirteenth Seekers.’ ]
▹ ☆ ??? ☆ ◃
✣ 「 ヴェン」 ❦❧ ─ ...Words of the grand Wizard himself, and even he did not possessed the answers Ventus wanted. Footsteps echoing loudly, it was deafening within these dreary empty halls. The white ominous that seemed to occasionally comes to life, and not in the more friendliest way either. Streak of black flashing by, in the most menacing way, but the blond walked on, hood up high, covering his head and face. Sapphire eyes with hint of green stared blankly forward, and composure full of confident stride with each steps.
[ ‘Where you will venture, will be a dangerous path, Ventus. Once you enter there, It is beyond my help. Tread wisely, the Thirteenth had once been.. a deserter... they may not welcome you with open arms.’ ] keeping to hearts these words, the Wind Master continues on. Little does everyone knows --beside the grand Wizard himself-- what lies in the Chamber of Wakings was just a doll, Ventus had long awakened and had been around. Training... and taking his mark of Mastery exam... not without trial and errors, and like Sora... he had gain something rather frightening in return. [ ‘To lose one’s Darkness and gain something back much more sinister, it’s a terrible fate, you must endure.’ ] The man didn’t need to tell him twice, and despite the heeded warnings, the Wayward Wind Master had a promise to keep.
‘I will bring Terra back. I promised to Aqua I would.’ It was his goal mission.
Why else would he impersonate Sora’s other half, Roxas, an ex-member of the Organization thirteenth, the Key of Destiny. And so far, his uncanny resemblance to that boy somehow allowed him to bypass those ‘Dusks’; empty husks really, and walk around here freely Hopefully, he can manage some other members and fool them. All he needed now was answers. ‘Terra... where are you?’ It was his turn now, trying to right the wrongs.
