dariacore is... kind of a genre? i guess? i still don't like it as a name, its connection to the classic MTV cartoon is more tenuous now than it was. the strange and subversive mix of plunderphonics, sound collage, and hyperpop has still given us some great music recently. among them is this release from xaev.

the australian turned in a fantastic EDM mashup phenomenon that would be reminiscent of Girl Talk if it weren't for the fact it's at a pulse-pounding 153bpm for the whole release. it makes for a stompy multi-genre experience that sometimes takes itself a little _too_ seriously and gets a little full of itself. but this track is not that -- a high-speed deconstruction of Cobra Starship and Martin Garrix layered over some of the HARSHEST bruxaria beats of the year. it's the sort of track that everyone can get something out of, from those who were there for EDM's golden era to those looking for hte hot new thing.
