This afternoon I had the opportunity to watch Xan Aranda's Andrew Bird: Fever Year, described by the Film Society of Lincoln Center as “a cunning hybrid of documentary and concert film.”
I admired the sharp, rich sound, and the patience with which Aranda and her camera crew explored the landscape of Bird's creative process, allowing the tensions between studio and performance in the musician/composer's life and work to reveal themselves.
I look forward to seeing The Mormon Movie, the documentary she's creating now.
