WHERE: page turners, downtown.

WHEN: early march, 2026.

Pulling open the door to Page Turners, Stelly stepped into the warm shop space, away from the cold air that refused to go away now that March had rolled in. But they knew that it would take a while for winter to fully leave -- spring always took her sweet time arriving. A comic book shop wasn't always on their list of places to visit downtown, but sometimes they liked to drop in to see Jasmine or Xander, look at some of the cute novelty items that they might sell. Reminisce on some of the things they remembered from their childhood. Seeing Xander at the front counter, they grinned. "Hey!"

WHO: Elena & @xandertaylor

WHERE: Elena's Home, suburbs

WHEN: late January, 2026

Now that the dust -- or snowflakes -- had settled, Elena found herself wanting to remember what it was like to be social, see more people than the customers in her shop, spend time with her friends. And having gotten the idea to cook a good, hearty dinner to fend off some of the cold, she shot Xander a text, asking if he wanted to come over, have some food, watch a movie or play some games; whatever he felt would be the most fun. Thankfully, he had agreed, and she found herself putting the finishing touches on her heaping pot of chicken tortilla soup, something warm, just spicy enough to keep them warm for the night, hopefully. As she heard the doorbell, she looked up, taking a chance as she called out, "come on in!" from where she was still standing in the kitchen, turning down the burner on her stove, "you can kick your shoes off anywhere inside the door, come in out of the cold and get warm!"

“Boss man,” Benni crooned as she strode into his office like it actually belonged to her, and she was just loaning it out to him. Strolling up to one of the chairs in front of his desk, she dropped herself into it and threw a leg over the armrest, making herself comfortable despite the other armrest digging into her back as she tried to lounge. Shooting Xander a grin as she rearranged herself, she observed, “You look nice today. Your hair looks perfectly coiffed, very voluminous. Not to mention shiny. What products do you use, and if you say 3 in 1—” Benni cut herself off because his hair care regimen wasn’t actually the purpose of her visit. 

“Listen, Xander. Xandy. Xan man the man who can,” Benni shook her head at herself and re-holstered her finger gun. “I was wondering if you would be alright with me bringing in a personal project to work on off the clock and on breaks. It might take up some space in the garage, but I don’t really have anywhere else to work on it.” She gave him an award winning pout and fluttered her lashes, waiting for his answer.

As Though Nothing’s Wrong || Tristam and Xander

He'd been slightly avoiding Xander since the village attack, he could admit it. And he doubted it'd gone without notice by the older boy that he was usually content to linger around and try to seem more grown than he was, a holdover from when he was even younger and trying to play with the big kids. It still felt like that, if he were honest, felt like he was an imposter amoung the older Death Eaters and just waiting for the moment they grew unamused by him and he was gone.

And ditching on the village attack probably hadn't helped his cause. He'd meant to go, he'd planned to go, he knew the plan and knew where to be and what to do and who would be there and who he wanted to watch out for. He'd known it all, planned it all.

But when the time came he could bring himself to leave his dorm. He'd hidden away in a bathroom, waiting for the other 5th's to tire of waiting for him and leave, and they had, and he'd stayed back, his head filled with his own imaginations of what was happening. He believed the cause... for the most part. He believed it easily, like a naive child raised in a religious household believes in religion, simply, without question. But he wasn't sure he had what it took to be a full member, wasn't sure he had what it took to perfom the spells he'd learned out of the classrooms on other people, to stand there while they writhed in pain or while the life left their eyes and not let it affect him. But he couldn't explain that to Xander, for fear of being kicked out before he had a chance to find out for sure, or to make himself into that person. He couldn't disappoint his parents and his friends and the older boys that way.

But, being in the same house, while having it's advantages, also had it's downfalls. Namely, that he was likely to run into Xander at any moment. Like this one. He froze for a split second in the doorway as he looked up at the older boy in question, before his instincts to smile kicked in, as though nothing was wrong. "Hey, Xander."
