Goons of the Jungle
An Xbalanque and Octane short story:
On one of the few nicest days within the jungle, Xbalanque was enjoying the breeze while lounging on a tree branch. He was causally gazing at the animals while listening to the birds chirping as he spun his bolas with his left hand. The birds sudden stopped chirping and instead flew away just as the god could hear a distant cheer. The only thing Xbalanque saw was a green flash zoom past him from below as he leaned over to eye the commotion. At first he thought it was Mercury so he decided to follow the male from the treetops
After a few minutes, the speed demon eventually came to a stop so Xbalanque proceeded to as well. He eventually noticed that the person was not Mercury but a Latin he had never seen before. The hunter decided not to reveal himself to the human just yet; he wanted to see what the Latin was up to.
Just as the strange male stopped running, he started to stretch - he did run for a while after all. Xbalanque wanted to get a closer look at him but as he was attempting to get closer, he managed to step on a branch and create noise, this caught the male’s attention. “Hey who’s there?” There was silence. “I won’t hurt you!” The male called out as he laughed. Xbalanque viewed him as no threat so he decided to confront the human. He proceeded to jump down from the tree, he landed perfectly on his feet before looking up to speak. “You’re not Mercury?” He questioned. The Latin tilted his head in confusion before laughing. “No amigo, my name is Octane!” He responded energetically. Octane asked a question before Xbalanque could respond. “And you are?” This oddly caught Xbalanque off guard but he quickly snapped back into reality and answered the Latin. “My name is Xbalanque, or the Hidden Jaguar Sun. How do you run so fast? You confused me for another person!” He said with a slight nervous laugh. Octane shook his head, “I’ve never met someone like you before, but i get fast from this stim! Would you like to try it sometime?” Xbalanque quickly declined but he thought it’d be a good idea for Octane and Mercury to meet, all three of them would have the best of times
The jaguar pelted hunter decided to give Octane a way for them to contact each other, the Latin quickly agreed and was eager to meet Mercury.
