First impression - I honestly cannot remember. Maybe, “Huh, he looks cool.” I can’t even quite remember what my first SG1 ep was.
Impression now - You are a sarky bastard who deserves all the happiness coming your way, and a calm retirement, and lots of fun as Mr Carter. XD
Favourite moment - This is haaaaaaaaaaard (because I don’t concentrate on Jack when I’m watching SG1). His first time hugging Sam - he doesn’t think, he just sees his team mate in complete agony and needs comfort, and so he just reacts. I like that.
Idea for a story - A bit angsty, set after Threads but before he gets together with Sam, where he has a near death experience and he sees Charlie and Jacob, and they’re both there saying, “Dude, get with it, sort shit out,” except way less sweary and way more emotional.
Unpopular opinion - Don’t think I have one. :)
Favourite relationship - Sam/Jack (shippy), Jack & Teal’c (BroTP).
Favourite headcanon - We all know he loves cake, and pie, but the loves comes from happy memories of eating with his grandma, big fluffy sponges that always made everything right. When he and Sara divorce, he tried making one of his grandma’s cakes, but it didn’t work. Not fluffy enough. He doesn’t try again until after he meets the Asgard and gets the Ancients repository taken out of his brain. It’s closer, but... eh. He’ll get there. (And he does, once Sam comes up to the cabin.)
Oooh - that mirror//body positive one sounds interesting!
Thank ya! It’s about half-written and I’m pretty hesitant to finish/post it because I am nervous about its reception.
But essentially it’s set post-series and Jack has a moment of self-doubt and insecurity when Sam comes home from Atlantis. While he’s not normally one to question why Sam has chosen him, he’s been riding the desk for the last year and he’s put on weight and is it just his imagination or is Sam really tired or does she just not want to touch him and be intimate with him anymore?
And Sam, resident Jack expert, picks up on this and confronts him about it and Jack kinda muddles his way through his feelings and she takes him upstairs by the hand and places his cute little butt in front of the full-length mirror they have in the bedroom.
She slowly strips him down and kisses him and tells him what she does see when she looks at him until Jack realizes how silly he was to ever question Sam’s love for him or to ever think her love was conditional.
I know none of us are really fans of Will, but I have a weakness for people looking at the Teslen, and this worked so well for me. I hope you enjoy it! :D
Detective Will Zimmerman watched as Tesla opened the door of the town car, assisting a tall brunette out, leaning into her and whispering something his microphone couldn’t pick up. She glanced over at Will’s car, smirked, tapped Tesla’s chest once with a perfectly manicured finger, kissed his cheek then walked away, hips swaying as if she knew her boss was watching.
Ten minutes later, there was a knock on the window, and Will looked up to see Tesla there, grinning, a pizza box in his hands, saying, “Compliments of Boss Magnus - it’s gonna be a long meeting, Junior.”
For the mash up my eyes drifted to these and I apologize. Baby fic, stranded on an island, Teslen
It’s all Nikola’s fault. Helen’s not sure how it is, but it is, because it always is. (He’d say it was her fault because she was the one piloting the plane, but he is also a sensible vampire who likes his ‘Alive’ status.) They’ve crashed on a lovely little island, the size of a postage stamp, with enough natural resources to keep Helen alive for a good while. The plane, once the engine stopped burning, became their base of operations. Nikola tinkers a lot, trying to create an SOS signal, whilst Helen moves rocks to do exactly the same thing (and to work off some of her anger because it was totally Nikola’s fault).
Doesn’t help that this was Helen’s last mission before maternity leave. How she didn’t have any complications from the crash she didn’t know, but she just counted all her blessings and shifted rocks.
They’re there for three weeks. Esther arrives a week after the crash.
They didn’t have much in the way of pain relief, but primal scream therapy works wonders, as does having a Nikola with bones that don’t stay broken. The first few hours after she gives birth (and gets both herself and Esther clean), she sleeps with Esther on her chest, Nikola standing guard and watching. Every so often, one or other stirs, but he just hums them back to sleep, singing the lullabies he’d sing whilst Esther was in utero.
If he’s honest, Nikola enjoys being the one to take care of “his” girls (not that he’d breathe a hint of thinking of Helen as “his girl” - Alive status still a good thing and all). Once Helen is awake again, and feeding Esther (with a gun in hand, just in case a wild animal stumbles upon them), he goes on his own hunt. He keeps Helen well fed with a variety of local fruit and veg (although she’s starting to get bored of coconut, and so’s he, if he’s staying honest), as well as some plump fish from the sea.
Esther just enjoys time with mummy and daddy.
Nikola was tied around her finger the moment she screamed her first. Swaddled in Helen’s shirt, he carried her around, explaining what he was doing with various bits of tech, pointing out various flowers and plants, and at night, after a midnight feed, he’d show her the stars, telling her various stories about those brilliant balls of gas.
And at night, after the midnight feed and the midnight walk, they go back to the downed plane, where Nikola curls around Helen, who uses his stomach as her pillow. He strokes her hair as she cuddles close. Esther sleeps in her own little space, close enough to her parents to be soothed back to sleep.
Will and Kate find them, triangulating (with Henry’s help) on Nikola’s signal. Neither are mega surprised to see Esther, but Will almost jumps out of his skin when Helen walks out of the plane, wearing a shirt and a pair of cut offs (”It was either destroy my trousers or not move during the day, and we had things to do,” was what she said to Kate. Had Helen had a proper sewing kit, she’d’ve made a skirt from said trousers, but cut offs were easier).
Esther doesn’t notice a change, but stays snuggled to daddy. Both Nikola and Helen are just happy to get back to the Sanctuary, the kitchen, and a proper bath.
