Val could only hope that Sandra wouldn’t get upset. Instead of delaying the inevitable, she just come out with it, “I’ve been seeing Detective Kennex outside of work. As you see it’s not affecting our work as all. I just. I felt you should know.”

Sandra almost laughed with relief. Instead, she just snorted quietly.

“I’ve worked with John for roughly 20 years now, a majority of that time as his partner. I don’t know how long you were together before I realized it, but I’d like to think I catch on quick. You two aren’t the first to be sneaking around, and I don’t think you’ll be the last, either.”

She peered at Stahl over her glasses. 

“As long as you two don’t let it affect your work, I won’t say anything. Just be careful, both of you.”

Valerie came into Sandra's office, looking very humbled. "Captain Maldonado. I have something I want to tell you, please don't be upset with me."

Sandra looked up at Valerie and nodded.

“Yes, Valerie?” She couldn’t promise she wouldn’t be upset, but she’d try not to be.

"You're a little intimidating," Valerie admitted while playing anxiously with her hair.

“Intinidatin’, can’t say I haven’t heard that before.” Woodrow answered, raising an eyebrow.

Charlie liked Rudy. He was kind of awkward, but he was always nice to her and willing to help her keep up with the technology her students had. Today she was having lunch with Rudy when she heard someone coming down the steps. She expected it to be her mother, but it was someone else.

“Oh, hi, sorry, do I need to go?”

John stopped in his tracks and turned around. "What did you say?"

A bouquet of Irises arrive on Maldonado's desk. On the card all it reads is: Always, Val.

Iris — “Your friendship means so much to me”

Sandra smiles at the bouquet and even more at the note. This is exactly what she needed after that especially grueling last case the pair of them have recently solved. 

“Thank you,” she murmurs, though she knows the woman can’t hear it.

Because I knew I wanted to RP Maldonado, but I wasn’t sure if I’d add more characters from the show, hence the “nco” (And Company). 2. What is your middle name?

A pipefox spirit like Watanuki has in XXXHolic. It’s cute and can change size and unlike the Mokana, it doesn’t guzzle down all of your alcohol. 4. Favorite color?

Purple. Pretty much any shade that’s not too brown. 5. Favorite song? Currently it’s “Work Song” by Hozier since I’ve been watching Constantine all weekend but it just depends on my mood. 6. What are your top five fandoms?

Star Trek, Almost Human, Flashpoint (what am I saying? Is there even a fandom anymore?), Constantine, Marvel (somewhat), SPN (somewhat)
