The thin man spawned on my rookie’s face during the Exalt VIP mission and things were very awkward

JXT: Zhang Casually Being a Badass
just got the email from Modiphius about the XCOM tabletop game they’re working on. The miniatures look pretty good.
I love that they say they will be included EW content in the future. Really warms my heart.
Hoping the veteran operatives includes the DLC characters.
The XCOM: The Miniatures Game is a solo and co-op tabletop miniatures wargame, based on the best-selling Five Parsecs From Home adventure wa

The latest installment in the "Chryssalids harmlessly park themselves next to my snipers" series. This one came all the way to the skyranger to say "Take me home with you".
Rey: "Okay, Armitage, I can aim at you or at your new pet and I don't care either way. Choose!"
imo Xcom: chimera squad is a good game, but it's not a good Xcom game.
think about some things that defined xcom from the 90's to 2016:
-Permadeath
-Large engagements that had you switching between searching and destroying
-Slow paced campaigns
-research trees that needed things from the tactical layer to progress
-base building!
-having your whole team take their turn at once!!!
-(for the reboots) CUSTOMIZATION!!!!!!
these are the things that make Xcom what it is and chimera squad has none of these! it's more akin to the tactical layer of empire of sin, all CQC, initiative system, combat that puts you directly into the fighting.
i get it wasn't supposed to be a full Xcom game and i get it was supposed to be experimental but we've gone ten years on a cliffhanger since Xcom 2 (and let's be honest parts of xcom 2 have not aged well cough cough it's a buggy game cough) and chimera squad could have been something more.
i think they should have just made it into a generic police game or made their own new setting for it instead of having it pose as an Xcom game when it's really not...
also i miss my goat central/bradford.
I love that the canon ending to XCom: Enemy Unknown/Within is you lose the game. All that endgame stuff with the Gollop Chamber and the Uber Ethereal and the reveal that the goal of the alien invasion was to create the very super soldier program that XCom became? That's all non-canonical. What actually happened is that the aliens deployed Muton Berserkers and Archons before you researched plasma weapons.
