I have been dying to vid this idea ever since I saw Thranduil's scar and read the headcanon on tumblr :D so here it is. This vid is basically dedicated to both headcanons

The Fisher King headcanon basically said Thranduil is a king that binds with his kingdom so whenever his kingdom is sick he is affected too. While another headcanon said Thranduil is probably completely blind, since from the movie when he showed his scar, one of his eyes is clouded. If you are interested just check them out :)

What I want to show is the product of both headcanon I guess :) Since I havent read Silmarilion (my copy hasnt arrive yet and Im looking forward to read it ), I just learn it from wiki.

Greenwood the Great was corrupted because of the shadow of Dol Guldur and became Mirkwood. Thranduil suffers the consequences and takes on the burden of his kingdom instead of sailing west. He never let Legolas know the truth of his suffering. And basically near the end when Thorin starts his tantrum Thranduil can't take it any more and show him the scar, the very symbol of his suffering for his kingdom, the true sacrifice of a king
