The Braille of You
I am a blind man
In glorious darkness
Enraptured by the book of you.
Cradling your spine in my hands
While my fingertips linger over your passages,
Savouring every chapter and verse,
Delving into your footnotes,
My thumb ruffling the edge of your pages,
Fluttering all the leaves of you.
Dog-eared corners,
Foxing at the edges,
This well-loved volume,
The sweet familiarity of this tome ...
And yet reading each word
As if it were the first time -
Discovering anew
The braille of you.
