Hi Ninjago fandom! here are my first batch of head-canons on Oni society and biology. Part 1: Gender and Age

Part 1 (your here!) | Part 2 | To start this off, Oni do not belong into any animal class (mammals, reptiles, fish etc.) simply because they are shapeshifting beings. At birth, they don't have a sex, and instead choose it later on when they are the equivalent of a teen. Society usually just allows them to be whatever as long as they have their sexual reproductive organs. And even if they don't want to change, Oni's do not take much note of it. Their are three total main genders/sexes that Oni's can choose from, two of them being comparable to male and female, and one combining the two, essentially being a Oni with hermaphroditism (having both male and female gametes.) Oni's can also be different breeds, hence why the Oni's in MOTO seem different than our first(?) physical appearance of a Oni, that being Mystake. Oni's age slowly, but is much quicker than how Dragons age, A baby being around the human age of 0-4, a toddler 4-7, a child 7-14, teenagers being around 14-20 and adults being 20 to whatever life expectancy. Its quite hard to compare age to humans and onis in world. Newborn/Baby age = 0-5 years old Toddler age = 5-8 years old Child age = 8-14 years old Teenager age = 14-25 years old Adult Age = 25 to whatever life expectancy. An Oni's life expectancy can differ depending on their living situation, but they tend to live to 1500 years old, rounded up. They also are most healthy, fit etc. at about 200-600 years old, and is called a "prime age". Now to take this chart, Wu and Garmadon are either fresh adults or just peaking teenagers compared to other Oni like Mystake. Mystake was in her prime as a Oni when she was introduced and still was till her supposed death. She was 400 Lloyd is a teen, and the Omega was around 300, being younger than Mystake. Extra info + Author notes: The age of consent is highly important in Oni society, and is considered to be the age when their brain stops growing (30 years old considering human age) Oni's are HIGHLY parental compared to dragons and even humans, they also mate for life. Any age is considered a important part of a tribe, as they usually all have different roles. Hope this was easy to read and you enjoyed my takes on Onis!

Hi again!! More Oni Headcanons! Part 2 - Physical attributes and abilities (In their Core Body)

Part 1 | Part 2 (your here!) | wow very long post actual yap fest Scroll down for In General, Oni's are a actively hunting/foraging species, meaning to get food, they have to kill or find. This signifies that they have to be very well built in order to take down dragons in the First Realm in order to get meat. They are meant for running fast and long distances yet being able to preserve stamina while doing so. They aren't as fast as a cheetah, but fast enough to most certainly get you. They most times drop to all fours while running this fast, and can comfortably do so unlike us as their skeleton can bend to allow the joint to fall more forwards towards the chest. Oni's are extremely tall, like Traditional Oni's, but only reaching up to 6-8 feet tall most of the time. Unlike Dragons they don't need to be big as they often live in huge tribes of up to 100 people or more. They come in silky black fur not too far to a cats coat, and uses the black coat to absorb the heat of the sun or to fend off against , though can have grey/white highlights and can even dye their fur. Cubs (Oni babies) are born with a beige undercoat that grows into the black overtime similar to wolf pups. They are born like that for camouflage during the daytime when dragons could possibly see them and hunt for them. Their skin is more of a greyer beige color. They shed fur in order to loose heat buildup during the hard, hot seasons of the First Realm, and often that fur becomes matted or clumpy. That's why grooming for Oni's come naturally for them, in groups or alone. Coming from the feet and up, they are unguligrades and have hooves similar to goats as they climb and live in high places such as mountains or hills. Being able to climb these mountains mean that they have very strong legs, and a kick from them with full strength is most likely fatal. Oni's are very exceptional at jumping long areas or jumping high (around 6 feet above the ground) Having a long, thin cat like tail helps with balance, but also can be annoying as somebody may step on it... Claws are a VERY important aspect of Oni's, as it helps to grip on anything. They have retractable sharp claws (not nails) for gripping treebark, mountain ledges, and the flesh of prey. They also have two thumbs like chameleons/koalas! Oni's don't have breasts, and have no need for it as cubs eat solid fatty foods straight from the womb. Coming up to their head, their mouths are the most distinguishable part of a Oni, as their teeth jut out of their mouths. They have these fangs and tusks to penetrate under a dragons scales and tougher hides of flesh. Since of their teeth, they can open their mouths much farther than humans, and fun fact, often yawn like a big cat! They have a nose that's extremely sharp and can differ many scents from each other. Eyes similar to a tigers yet has a lighter pupil, with nightvision so they can comfortably hunt at dusk and midnight. (They are crepuscular going into nocturnal) Their ears are similar to a deers, except on the side of their heads. They can swerve and almost perfectly hear behind themselves. They have a eye pattern at the back of their ears similar to tigers. Their horns are the most impressive, as it can distinct many Oni's from each other and can grow to massive heights as they are lightweight. If you look at a animal like the Antelope, their horns aren't apart of their skull, and instead are some sort of cap connected to the flesh. The skull grows as the base of the horns though most of the time. Oni skulls reach around half of the size of their horns and the horns have to be rubbed down as well since they are constantly growing. Oni horns and their shape/size is based off of genetics. Like the Omega had huge horns (antlers atp) because his family line had huge horns. Gotta grab the local Bob of the oni species for a physical look of them hes only 6'5 be nice to him [ Raise brightness if you cant see details well! ]

Extra info + Author notes: - I hope I portrayed their strength yet leanness correctly - Even though Oni's are black, many colors are present in their fur to make the black coat. You can see blue, browns and greens especially. - Ticks from the First Realm exist, and they usually terrorized Oni tribes lol - Oni blood is blue/purple! - They pant like a dog to allow them to cool down, or use nature to their advantage and swim in water sources in the mountains or anywhere tbh :) Hope this was easy to read and you enjoyed another one of my takes on Onis!

*the reason why the Grand Priest feels lust the fastest is because he is the only Angel that can reproduce and is the closest thing to what he can feel anyways yeah Angels are still "neutral" in the sense that they have no exact side they lean on (good vs evil like) and that they in fact arent in the scene at all they are neutral like a void

hiiiii, can we learn more about the changed characterization of the Daishinkan/Jiren relationship?

Sure thing!! Generally speaking, they do not spend a lot of time with each other as you would think, like maybe "visits" every 2-3 days a month. They also are way less romantic than what I pictured them before and are more friends with benefits(?) to say in a more SFW manner as that's what it truly is :\ Jiren is kinda just "ok, i can live with this..." about the relationship, and still tries to focus on training and other parts of his life. The Grand Priest (Maeda if you want to use his real name) is a LOT more wary of their relationship and pretty much keeps it more "professional". Maeda sometimes slips in personality and can seem more charming and warm, but that shuts right down once he notices. Although, Jiren is a person to find differences in everything, so their hot-cold personality is easily seen by him. Basically nobody is really truly aware of their relationship, not even the angels. Zeno knows, just not what exactly they do and Belmod and Toppo has some hints about it. I lot of the characterization back then was just willfully heavy mischaracterization </3 also extra notes mostly because i dont wanna make a seperate post Jiren goes by he/they while the GP goes by any pronouns in the whole wide cosmos Jiren is demi-nonbinary and the GP is technically agender as is all the other angels
