Tiger Bee Fly (Xenox tigrinus) in my backyard, July 2018. These Flies are often seen near old wood or fencing, where Carpenter Bees have made their nests. The Tiger Bee Flies are actually seeking out these nests, where they will lay their eggs alongside the Carpenter Bee eggs. The Tiger Bee Fly larvae will emerge within the nest and feed on the Carpenter Bee larvae before developing into the adult form pictured here. . . . . . . . #ontario #nature #naturalhistory #tigerbeefly #xenoxtigrinus #xenox #bombyliidae #parasite #parasiticflies #ecology #entomologyphotography #backyardwildlife #backyardbugs #diptera #insects_of_our_world #macrophotography #beautifulfly #norfolkcounty #norfolkwild #simcoeontario #blognorfolk (at Simcoe, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDGr01fpiNC/?igshid=ps3h7fepahcj
